priest_of_syrinx
Schro!! It's been forever since you've posted! Why do I like Dream Theater? Necromancer
Treeduck keeps calling me out on this, but if you've read any of my SERIOUS posts about any of my bashing... I only do it to bust on TICK!!! Since so many of you have whined about my posts about this, I've stated it OVER AND OVER. And in real life, Tick knows how i honestly feel and he knows it's just to have fun with HIM on here. In all actuallity, I am indifferent. I agree they are amazing, but they just don't do much for me. YET. Under the advisement of Tick, I will be buying their latest, as he swears to me that I will like it. Now... i guess if MP logged in, he wouldn't know that. So I could see that maybe he would be hurt. Oh well. Sorry RR, that it caused you embarrasment, but I'm a Tool fan and if Danny Carey told me he read negative comments on here and showed displeasure with it, I'd tell him to read a bit more often and see that the majority of the posts are favorable. Actually... if that happened, i'd get a kick out of the fact that something like this got up his craw that much to make ANY kind of comment at all. But that's just me. With all the amazing things that TRF has done and been responsible for... great friendships, marriages, helping out people that are sick... I'm surprised that Mike Portnoy's feelings made you EMBARRASSED of US. I'd tell him to take a hike. But again... that's just me. Tick
Look, im not for censorship of peoples thoughts, that what a messege board is all about. I will say this though, you would be hard pressed to find many, if any posts of me ripping something other people love just cause i dont. I just think its weak to post that you think something sucks just to be a nuisance to the people who are trying to converse on how much they love it. Thats just my opinion on that. What i did say earlier and ill reiderate on my thoughts, its sure as hell not unprofessonal for a guy like Mike Portnoy to say something to a fan about something he read about himself, who here would'nt ? If folks can have fun rippin him apart, theres nothing wrong with him responding. Lastly, lets all play nice so this thread does not get closed please, that would suck. MP: Hey folks... see that fat idiot in the front row with the TRF shirt? Crowd: YEAH!!!! MP: He makes fun of me on THE RUSH FORUM Website Fans: BOOOOOOOO!!!! then suddenly one of the fans will say... Hey wait... aren't you NECRO??? of course, i'll be all shy and I'll demurely say... "why of course I am." Then the crowd will start chanting NECRO!!! TRF!!!! NECRO!!! TRF!!! And MP will cry some more. At this point the band will attempt a cover to soothe the wild crowd who by now are passing me over their heads like a KING!!! MP will just sit there and continue to cry. Wondering.... "where's TICK when you REALLY need him???". Yes... it will be grand. Hey RR... when will those Necro RULZ TRF shirts be available anyway??? I have fans you know. the masked drummer
DREAM THEATER AT FILLMORE DETROIT 8/13/07 -MY UNCENSORED REVIEW OK, I went to the show last night, and James had another bad night. He was backstage more than he was on stage and the poor guy was struggling worse than he was on the '98 tour... Anyway, they didn't play "Prophets of War", which was about th eonly new track they didn't play, and my favorite. The audio quality was worse than what you would hear at a local pub. It was all midrange and no lows or highs. The kick drum was almost inaudable! Out of 20 DT shows I've seen this was by far the worst. MP was looking haggard and appeared to be dragging the tempo. Either those dudes went out to the casino and whooped it up hardcore the night before, or they're losing their steam... Well, Petrucci and Jordan were incredible. That was their only saving grace. Anyone else go??

It has all the great elements they're known for without being too progressive or too straight forward. Track six (prophets of war) is one of the coolest songs ever. It has such a cool feel... Bastille Night
I'm going to see them on Saturday in Toronto, 4th row centre woohoo! It's funny, I picked up the ticket on a lark, specifically because of all the bashing back and forth between fans and non-fans. I wanted to see what the fuss is all about. I've listened to a fair bit of the back catalog over the past month, and I quite like it. So, in my case anyway, the old adage holds true: ALL publicity is good publicity . Looking forward to the show!

Big DT fan here , but I am a little dissapointed to be honest...too much Metallica influence , it kinda sounds like Train of Thought 2 or something , don't get me wrong I like ToT but why do it again ? Bastille Night
New DT fan reporting in. After the show last night in Toronto, I've gotta say that the DT bashers are out of their minds. Man, that was a GREAT show......really fun, the musicianship is unreal, and the production was spectacular. I'll be checking out more of the catalog, and going to more shows in the future. ALifeson85
I just saw them here in Baltimore on Aug 14 - and DAMN was it a ROCKIN' SHOW!! The new tunes sounds AWESOME live - esp. In The Presence Of Enemies - and I'm also glad they played both parts of ITPoE back to back...as a whole...like it was intended. This was my 3rd time seeing DT, and I will be seeing them MANY more times in the future! God I LOVE those guys!!
