It's probably fair to say that Tommy Tutone means zilch this side of the pond so i'm ruling that one out.

My Sharona was a monster hit here but I have heard it so many times i am sick to the death of it!

So, by default my vote goes to Jessie's Girl.

I just found out that Tommy Tutone wasn’t the name of the lead singer, it was simply the band’s name.

For a long time, I thought the name of the singer behind that one 1987 hit, Mary’s Prayer, was Danny Wilson. Turns out they’re the band.

Some song in Reality Bites

Some song in 13 Going On 30

Sharona. It's almost impossible to overstate how huge that song was. I was in junior high, and pretty much everyone owned Get the Knack. I probably have to give the guy from General Hospital the silver, and the dudes who were the first ones to dox an ex-girlfriend the bronze.

My Sharona was actually a 70s song.

Oof, I forgot, lol. It's very ahead of it's time then.

IIRC, it was the number one song of the entire year on the top 100 of 1979 chart. Not surprising how rich the band is just from that song’s royalties alone. It’s never gonna die.
