If you walk by her grave, you can hear a faint cackle. This must have really set them back on their heals...I haven't heard any conspiracy, blaming or lies in the last couple of days. But the calls for 'delay the election' will start in 3,2,1.... Remember how people were memeing and joking that the glut of deaths in 2016 like Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince et al were the beginning of how awful society and humanity have become? And I know, first world problems, but it's really not fun trying to figure out how to have socially distanced Thanksgiving outside on the porch. 2 of my kids work in the health care field and can't take any chances. Mrs Hemi is having the same discussion in bringing her 88 year old mom over with the rest of the family that's still working. I hope she gets to come! Yes, this is getting old. We are thinking of wrapping the west end of the porch with a tarp to block the wind and getting some kind of propane heater? But I hear ya. My mom is 86 and 4 hrs away. We were happy to cook there but she is excited to have it with the neighbors so I hope it works out for her. It will be interesting. I hope this comes to an end at some point. I agree that discourse has been in a spiral since the dawn of the 24hr media cycle. The book "Amusing Ourselves to Death" nailed that. I think the system is as resilient as ever, having effectively blocked radical swings in policy in both directions, and in how it continues to check tyrannies of majority. I am all for gridlock by design. Roger Waters' album Amused To Death was spot on as well. Our political system was built wisely. It ensured that laws and amendments had to be really good and fair in order to be passed by a majority of the Congress. That said, today's Congress is neck-deep in partisan contempt, finger-pointing and adversarialism. It is after all, from what I've read, a hermetically sealed vehicle (as well as bullet proof, etc.) and a perfect place for the virus to spread from one person to another rapidly. I mean it spread to a lot of people not wearing masks (which was pretty much all of them) in the Rose Garden ceremony for RBG and that was outdoors.
