Your All Star Band

Got a text from a friend today, asking:

You get to create a band . . .

Vocals

Lead

Rhythm

Bass

Drums

(other)

No more than two from one band. Alive or dead. You can have a dual-threat (singer/bassist, for example)

So who you got?

I'll just go ahead and fill in "EVH" for Rick's guitarist now . . .

By these rules:

Freddie Mercury - vocals, lyrics, and occasional keys

Neil Peart - drums, percussion, and maybe some lyrics

Chris Wolstenholme - bass and backing vocals

John Petrucci - guitar and backing vocals

Tony Banks - keyboards and backing vocals

Ian McDonald - woodwinds and occasional Mellotron

EDIT: But I could definitely be persuaded to swap Wolstenbeast for Phil Lynott

EDIT 2: and let’s toss Mick Ronson in there on rhythm guitar since I’m allowed that option.

Mark Mothersbaugh

Bjork

Weird Al Yankovic

Danny Elfman

Mike Patton

Lock them in a house for 2 months with food and a recording studio.

Get Zappa on the phone...... He needs to be part of this.

Man, some great names. I'm going to need a band bigger than Ginger Baker's Air Force or Parliament Funkadelic!

Bruce Dickinson

Jimmy Page

David Gilmour

Geddy Lee

Ginger Baker (can I have recency bias for someone who's just died?)

Incredible thread. We've done this before but it's been many years!

Vocals: ROB HALFORD

Lead Guitar: EDDIE VAN HALEN

Lead Guitar: WOLF HOFFMANN (I need a twin axe band)

Rhythm Guitar: PETE GOD TOWNSHEND

Bass Guitar: JOHN ENTWHISTLE yet thinking STEVE HARRIS since it's METAL! LOL!

Keyboards: JOHN LORD

Drums: Can't go Neil here. Going.... SIMON PHILLIPS!

I`ll go down the Skynyrd route of number of guitarists, because I want to hear a shitload of solos.

Eddie VH, Steve Morse and Steve Vai - Guitars

Karen 0 - Vocals

Neil - Drums, and I`ll let him be chief lyricist too

Geddy - Bass, some vocals if he`s up to it

Jon Lord - Keys

Crowd warm-up - DLR. Sorry Dave, but you`re still funny.

Alex can guest every night :)

Yes, you absolutely can have recency bias.

Even if he hadn't just died, he is an excellent choice.
