I mean look how fast Green Day got in and how long of a wait it was for Rush.

Had they added devo and todd Rundgren i would been thought higher....

ReRushed
It really is kind of odd that Radiohead got in so easily when it took so long for a band like Def Leppard who massively out sold them to get in. Oh yeah, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden aren't in yet but Radiohead is? Who can take this hall seriously?Radiohead deserves indiction. It's not their fault other deserving bands haven't been inducted. Personally, as popular as Def Leppard is, I don't think they are worthy of any hall of fame honors. Priest and Maiden are no doubters, IMHO. Exactly and they got 100,000 more fan votes over the 2nd place person. Whether or not you like them or think of them as pop rock/metal, doesn't mean they aren't deserving of induction.

The Cat 3
Def Leppard make great records. They are great musicians and great band live. They've faced adversity gracefully and just keep going. They have a great appreciation for rock 'n' roll music and the musicians who paved the road before them. They love their fans and what they do. They truly deserve this honour. Edited December 14, 2018 by The Cat 3

Thom Yorke could mumble over looped farts and those twee hipster loving idiots at Pitchfork would give it a 10/10. They’re giving good reviews to Cardi B now ffs.

Rick N. Backer
I'll add that I saw Def Leppard this summer for the first time in 35 years. They wiped the stage with Journey.

Totally disagree. Thriller was huge, but I would say Bad was pretty clearly a step back. Pyromania's radio hits, and certainly Hysteria, gave Jackson's output during that time a run for his money. Well, it's Michael Jackson. Nobody reached the heights of popularity that he did. It's not even fair to compare others to him unless we're talking Elvis or The Beatles. MJ wasn't called the king of pop because it sounded cool. It's because it was the truth. But for a rock fan, there may have been no bigger band in the world during that five year period in the 80s than Def Leppard. They could make a damn good argument for them being the biggest band in the world that would be completely valid. Def Leppard even remained massively popular when Adrenalize came out in 1992. I saw them play the arena here in March of 1993 and then less than six months later they were back here playing the local amphitheater in August. Both shows had huge and very enthusiastic crowds. Not too many rock bands from the 80s could do that. Especially when the popular rock musical landscape at the time shifted in a different direction. They only other 80s rock band who probably could have pulled that off was Bon Jovi.
MalformedEarthborn
I would assume that the typical Rush fan wouldn't also be a Cure fan. Was anyone else rooting for them?

They have a few songs that I like but not enough to buy an album. They've been around for a long time and have obviously been making music that somebody likes.
