I have to give it a fresh listen before I rate it. It was played so much on the radio in the eighties, that I lost interest in it back then.

Edit: I give it ***.

I actually heard it for the first time in a while a couple days ago. It's a good song in my view...

Top notch campy cheese that is lots of fun to lip-sync/karaoke/flash mob to these days.

Who wrote it? It does sound like a song by Mr. Loaf. Or Steinman or whoever wrote that stuff.

NM. Just looked it up. Now I understand the Meatloaf comment.

sappy song sang by a one-hit wonder who sounds like a two pack a day habit.

but i gave it two stars for being popular. even a red-headed stepchild deserves some credit now and then.

That takes all the romance out of the song. :(

Vampires are extremely romantic.

I like a lot of cheese, but this ain't one

To make matters worse, it has that female / male counterpart thing going on that I usually hate

one star

It's campy. It's over the top. It's ostentatious. I like it for all the reasons it's a bad song.

Exactly! It's a helluva lot of cheese but in a good way! I HATE power ballads with a vengeance but this THIS song, that husky voice, that arrangement, the epicness...arggghhh...

Too grandiose and no substance. Gave it a 1.

I was going to be generous and give it 4 stars but there doesn't appear to be a 4-star option!

Should I give it a high 3, or a low 3? Can't make up my mind...damn! May's well go for the high 3 then.

Very good song. And she's not a one-hit wonder in the US. The album this song was on made it to #4 and she had an earlier album reach #16. Besides this song which made it to #1 she also had It's A Heartache reach #3 and Holding Out For A Hero at #34. Edited by Rushian King
