Just between us, I think it's time for us to realize, the spaces in between, leave room for you and I to grow That's a beautiful line. Both the way it flows and the poetic nature of it. Not saying I agree that the other song should be slated but you don't have to desperately try to bring down a great album to prove a point. The comparison you just made further proves the superiority of PeW based solely on these lyrics. Edited October 17, 2016 by Segue Myles

I'd be willing to concede that. Well, maybe not "robotic," but kind of odd to my ears. I can't imagine what there is to complain about with that Rush lyric, though. Great line o' verse. Lorraine
I listened to Drama and I will go with Permanent Waves. For me, Drama is trying to hold onto something Yes had and was over (in my opinion). Permanent Waves was already looking into the future of music. HemiBeers
I think Al was quoted that he didn't like PeW at first...he didn't feel they touched any new ground. Then he warmed up to the concept of being a little more accessible and less epic-y. The extra coin from album sales in his bank account didn't hurt either. grasbo
I remember I bought both albums at the same time but probably about a year or so after they were released.Permanent Waves I don't know why I didn't purchase straight away.Drama was because Tormato had been lousy and Anderson and Wakerman had been replaced by that Buggles mob.Horrors.Permanent Waves wins it for me but I do like Drama even though I be pressed to remember a melody on it.If I recall correctly Tormato was my first Yes "new release" purchase and love it to this day. Different strokes for folks I suppose. It's a bit weird in places but in a great way in my view... Agreed...I've always liked it a lot.
grasbo
After GFTO Tormato was a big let down for me.Even the band admit its faults. The production is its main fault, its lifeless. And there is nothing to match Awaken still one of favourite prog tracks of all time.Still I can see why some people like it.I like Big Generator, others loathe it

Rutlefan
Wow, this was actually really tough for me despite not being a big Yes fan. I went through a huge Yes phase when I was young but have rarely returned to them since, being content to catch the occasional tune on the radio, with the exception of Drama. I've always loved this album. Guess I'm weird though as my second favorite of theirs is Relayer. Then I get conventional with Close to the Edge at #3. Anyway, I had to think hard about this as I'm not in love with Freewill or Natural Science, like about everyone else is, but love the rest of PeW, esp Jacob's Ladder. Re Drama, I don't love Into the Lens, but really like the rest, and really really love Run Through the Light. Always have. So it's a close call. But...have to give it to PeW because no matter how indifferent I am to Freewill and Natural Science (apart from the live version on Different Stages), PeW is too amazing. Drama is amazing but it sounds like an amazing album from 1980; PeW is an amazing album that just doesn't age; it still sounds fresh, it's the once and future classic. Speaking of Relayer, I used to listen to side 1 mainly to hear this thirty some seconds of bliss, starting at 13:42... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpaouEAfkwg
Relayer2112
I've always had a soft spot for Drama, it being the first Yes album with which I became acquainted. My brother had it on 8-track and I listened to it and loved it. I was able to take it at face value because, at that point, I had no idea who Jon Anderson was and had no preconceived notions about what Yes should sound like. I was fond of it then and I'm fond of it now. That being said...Permanent Waves kicks its ass.
78jazz
I do like Drama, but even on a Yes fan site I think Permanent Waves would still win. While I dig Rush more than Yes, I'm not sold on that observation. I think that Drama and Permanent Waves are both superb albums for the respective bands.

Or :outtahere:"Ascot" sounds like some tall, thin dog that's owned by a snobby rich person. The Ascot, shittily named 'Brinkley' or the like, would wear a plaid ascot that matches their owner's plaid ascot.
