  2. That's beautiful. I could sit there for hours and hours and hours. Maybe even fall asleep under one of those trees if I had enough of warm blankets and a fluffy pillow.

  5. Beyond Fuckking Incredible. Beyond the Lighted Stage. Beyond comprehension. "Living in the limelight, the Universal Dream." Rush getting National attention. Well deserved for the greatest band to ever exist. Be happy you were all alive on this planet to see and hear this band. Whoever put this thing together deserves an award. Beyond Epic. RUSH RULES!

  8. Strange you're not a big fan of their vocals. I think younger Matt Heafy has a lot in common vocally with Brian Fair. Shadows Fall did get kind of popular with that album. Maybe just a notch or two below where Killswitch was. Their next album was on a major label and while I think it was pretty good, they did try to be a little more commercial but the album didn't sell as good as the record company hoped. So, they started their own label after that and the marketing wasn't as strong. The vocals are honestly fine, and I definitely think of early Trivium here. But the mixing of the vocals is rough, it sounds like someone forgot to master them. But I am finding the playing so engaging. It's not the first time I've played this album, but I've been struck by just how great the music is. Vocals deserved better production, but don't blame me I came to this band long after other bands in the genre. It likely sounded better in 2004. Ghost Of Past Failures is my favourite song so far. I'm likely to replay this.

  9. Shadows Fall- The War Within (8/10) Immaculate playing. They remind me a lot of the best of Testament. Still not a huge fan of this bands vocals, it's the way they mix them. Aside from that, I am surprised this band wasn't bigger.

  11. Power drills and guitars FTW Mr Big has entered the chat  I remember when they opened for RUSH and we all laughed our asses off when he pulled out the drill... Didn’t he get his hair caught in it one show? Pretty sure that happened. EDIT: Do NOT google to find out. You'll get some gnarly pics of power tool accident victims. :scared: In Soviet Poccnr, drill handles YOU.

  14. I found it funny at times but yes it was a bit more serious in tone. Which is not usually the recipe for a comedy special. Still, the T+ community needs someone to bitch slap them back into reality, they are so high on the odor of their own flatulent. Dave Chappelle is one of the few big enough with enough immunity to speak frankly to them.

  15. Trivium- In The Court Of The Dragon (9/10) I'm speechless. I'm a bit bored with loving Trivium this much (who am I kidding, I'm not!), but they just don't seem able to disappoint, even though at this point their albums follow a rather strict formula. The Sin And The Sentence, What The Dead Men Say and this album could all be one album, and I would never complain. The best thing about it though is that they don't sound close to tiring out.

  17. Pretty much my take. My childhoodand my parents were far from perfect, but I think I made the best of it. I'm actually pretty proud of my resilience. I'm actually pretty proud that you used resilience instead of resiliency. That's far too uncommon in recent times. Did you you mean to say "times of recency"?

  18. This was posted in one of the reddit prog rock groups that I'm a member in. I promptly sent the youtube clip to my brother who pointed out that the motorcycle configuration was a tribute to Neil who was an avid motorcyclist. Anyway, it mostly seems to be "Rush's greatest hits" but it's still pretty cool.

  21. Going slightly off-topic ,and I know that technically the album came out in the autumn / fall of ‘90 , but during 1991 ( as much as I obviously highly rated both then & still now both DLR’s & VH’s ‘91 releases ) I was at the time more blown away by the Extreme II - Pornografitti album , and mesmerised by Nuno Bettencourt’s playing. Nuno was obviously very influenced by Eddie and was by adding more of the funk-metal element , dare I say it , doing his best to even try and take Ed’s style a little further forward. I know ‘ Get the Funk Out ‘ is also one of Brian May’s all time favourite solos ! :-)

  25. Odd, because IMO Presence is one of their best albums. I am also surprised so many votes are here to send the debut packing. If PG is knocked off, IV will be my next one to try to send home.

  26. Zep is a band that continued to evolve, and as a result each album is its own experience. For me, voting at this point is like pulling blind out of a hat.

  27. Let me take this opportunity to give John at Cygnus-X1.net some recognition, not only for his archiving of Neil's articles, but for his entire site, an invaluable resource to the Rush community. John was handing out postcards advertising Cygnus-X.net at the first Rush gig I ever went to, the gig at which I became a fan, and I have been visiting it regularly ever since. Many thanks and much appreciation to John for all his hard work over the years! Thank you, sir. Always nice to hear favorable comments about the work I put into my website. Glad you're enjoying it. Love your website. Found it on my own and I was amazed at how well put together it was. I don't do it often but I've looked at the archived versions of your website and it was pretty neat to see how it evolved. Ditto. Bravo. Well done. Way to go. And most importantly, thanks!
