I saw Cinema Strangiato on Wednesday in Toronto, and spotted Terry outside the movie theater. Couldn't NOT ask him for a picture!18 points

I wouldn't either, if I hadn't been told he was there. I left the room in a rush to use the bathroom, and as soon as I left a friend of mine said "dude, you missed Terry...he was just here a MINUTE ago!!". So I went down the stairs thinking he might still be outside, and lo and behold, he was there chatting with a friend. I let them finish their chat and asked for a photo - didn't want to be THAT rude fan who interrupts the artist to ask for a photo. The guy he was chatting with gracefully offered to take the photo.4 points

I asked Ray Alder from Fates Warning about what it was like working with Terry - they did the Parallels album together. He was all compliments to him, and said "he actually produced and collaborated, and did not just sit there pressing the buttons". I think that as the music world is evolving, guys like that - Terry Brown, Martin Birch, Roy Thomas Baker etc. - are bound to be extinct, since bands are now more prone to self producing and using apps and gadgets to record. Quite a shame, since these producers played a huge part in what made bands like Rush, Maiden, Queen etc. so great.3 points

I do remember you saying that, man. And if meeting them at the Grapes Under Pressure event was surely a dream come true, it still amazes me how so many other chances at meeting my idols have occurred since moving here. Terry was the nicest guy ever. I gave him my business card and asked for an interview - he said he would consider it.3 points

https://fedoramagazine.org/command-line-quick-tips-searching-with-grep/ Introducing grep The grep utility allows you to search for text, or more specifically text patterns, on your file system. The name grep comes from global regular expression print. Yikes, what a mouthful! This is because a regular expression (or regex) is a way of defining text patterns. The grep utility lets you find and print out matches on these patterns — thus the name.2 points

No question. So many classic bands I love used the same producer for several albums and that person almost became an extra member of the band for what they contributed that made those records that much better. Most new records nowadays are too compressed and brickwalled sounding for my taste. I'm still disappointed that Rush felt good about the way Clockwork came out sounding. I have no doubt it would've been much more listenable with Brown at the helm. Did you get the sense that Terry is still a Rush fan despite being sacked by them? Of course! He's still a regular at events promoted by fans, and was there to watch the movie. I don't have evidence of this, but I do believe he's still bitter about the band not wanting to continue their collaboration.2 points

Soundgarden - Like Suicide Ironic song title isn't it? I love the slow build up of this track. Kim is grossly underrated with his eastern influences, unconventional phrasing and myriad of alternate tunings. Here's a well shot live version, but doesn't quite capture the fire of the album version. Kim always ad libs his live solos, so some can be hit and miss. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-EYaXY1_4c2 points

Judging by how good he was with them on the albums he did produce those albums would have sounded and been arranged better.2 points

I did chat very briefly with Nick R. in Nashville at the Geddy book signing. I thought about asking him the same question but was thinking that might make him a little uncomfortable. Or just make him mad! He might have said, "LOOK I'M BETTER THAN TERRY! OK???"2 points

Same here. He's a name I know but not a face. Well, he does look the same as he did in the Rush doc from 10 years ago2 points

It wasn't exactly a highlight reel of the R40 DVD, but sort of. Some of the shots were different, and some of the songs were from a different performance. It wasn't anything terribly exciting in terms of content, but personally, I really got a kick out of just being in a public space with a bunch of Rush people enjoying some big-screen Rush footage, and reminiscing with random strangers after about what a great experience it was to see Rush live and commiserating regarding missing them. Worth the $11.55 I paid for the ticket.2 points

Hey Rod, do you remember a few years back about a month before you moved to Toronto, I said that the possibility of you meeting Geddy (somewhat by chance) is actually pretty good due to the fact that you place yourself in high chance situations? Well, this Terry Brown meeting is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about. :) P.S. I know you met Geddy & Alex at the Grapes event but meeting Terry like this is pretty cool.1 point

Absolutely. I’m interested in seeing how Picard turns out - hopefully it’ll be a good bellweather for quality Sci Fi on television. And TV is a better place for Sci Fi isnt it... those stories need room to breathe and expand. It’s hard to make good Sci Fi as a 2hr profitable movie going experience.1 point

From what I've been reading on here and on the facebook Rush fan group(clockwork angels) there wasn't much in here that wasn't in the R40 dvd. I haven't seen that so it didn't bother me.1 point
