I used to post in here when I first joined TRF but after a while it gets a bit dull discussing how much you like Rush. That being said, I thought I would dedicate this post to how awesome Rush truly is. I can't think of any other ban in history that has consistently produced quality original music for almost fifty years now. They have adapted, changed and remained an influential band that doesn't have to rely on old hits from the seventies to preform live. I honestly can't think of any other band that can do or has done what Rush has accomplished. I spend most of my time here in SOCN because I like to read posts from informed, intelligent people. Sometimes I forget that I'm on a forum dedicated to a rock band. I believe that the depth of Rush is revealed in its fan base. Long live Rush and long live TRF! :cheers:6 points

I went back and quoted one of my own earlier posts in this thread because I wanted to tell you all about something that just happened a couple of weeks ago. The weekend right after Christmas, I took my family up to my brother Matt's house- they live a couple of hours away by car, and they had just come down to us at Christmas, but we had never been to his house, so we went up. (Matt was the middle brother, until Greg died. But anyway)... At one point in our visit, the kids were all in the basement messing around, and I heard some random beating of drums. And Matt said something to me like, "Do you want to go down there and show them how it's done?"...so we went down, and what do I see right in front of me down there but Greg's old Slingerland kit- looking perfectly maintained. I was totally blown away; it was the first time I had seen it in 27 years; I didn't even know it was still around. And so anyway...Matt played it a little bit, and then I sat down and played it some, too. It was an incredible little moment. :)3 points

I agree. I just watched the original film recently and it really holds up. I've always thought it was much more scary to not see the alien except for the tiny glimpses we get until the end.3 points

Knowing that I have the ability and respect to be asked to move to a different crew and be trained to be a backup Mission Director. Having the clout to say I will train to be a backup Mission Director, but I don't want to switch crews.2 points

Being told I could "go f**k myself" by the homeless woman I had to ask to leave my property, seconds before she stuck her tongue out at me and then went on complaining to her imaginary friends about all of the ironing she had to do. Also, Sheldon quoting a song by The Brady Bunch Yes, to me.2 points

This very underrated actor and awesome man is now 80 years old (yikes!). He may be walking and talking a little more slowly these days, but his words and his wit are still strong as ever.2 points

To me, Yes represents what I love about music. It's not necessarily about the lyrics or the technical prowess, it's about how it hits you. As the great Bob Marley said - "One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain."2 points

http://i.imgur.com/HdaXaKR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sg8JKMH.jpg One thing about the first two Alien films is, unlike a lot of old sci-fi films, the fictional technology doesn't look dated. For instance in the first film Mother and all the screens and panels still look very high tech.2 points

90125. Yes snobs will tell you it's too commercial or accessible. But it is a fantastic album. My favorite by the band by a lot.2 points

:) I'm definitely a Yessnob, but I'm also a huge fan of the work Rabin did with the band. I love Big Generator, 90125, and especially Talk. Tormato, Talk, and The Ladder are my picks for the group's most underrated records. Good job by Sheldon bringing up Going for the One. Close to the Edge, Fragile, and The Yes Album are their greatest works, but Going for the One is a powerhouse album worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as those three. And Yesshows is worth checking out in addition to Yessongs. You have a good sense of humor my friend. Going For The One is a must have.... :)1 point

Close to the Edge and The Yes Album are my favorite albums of theirs. Drama is a great album despite Jon Anderson not being on it, and Rick Wakeman, for that matter.1 point

Black Noise from FM is fantastic. Just rediscovered the album from this brilliant band. Nash the Slash is a beast on the electric mandolin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VigL6jN3vY1 point

No no no no no. And the band will never ever get to that. I don't believe for second they would this. Once Geddy can't sing good enough live.......they are done. SOme people around here already think that. But last tour he rocked. His vocals were pretty damn good for a guy his age...singing this kind of stuff. And yes I would be opposed. Keep it real. I can take some triggered sounds and some looped guitar parts from Alex....but nothing obvious. And vocals lip synced? Really? Rush would be a sell out at that point....it would break my heart.1 point

toilet seat finally broke off completely - not that I want to share that info - but hey, it happens. So I installed the new one to find out that it is a wee bit too long. and then I dropped a 22 oz. cup of coffee onto the kitchen table, where it journeyed across the table, down the wall, down into the heaters and onto the floor. and this is all before 10 a.m. - so i'm actually taking a vacation day today, because I'm afraid of what will happen if I leave the house.\1 point

Been waiting here at this dog food factory for over 4 hours trying to get loaded, uncompensated, of course. I am supposed to be in Ohio tomorrow morning at 6:30 am ...ain't gonna happen. These people are in no hurry and there are like 10 trucks waiting behind me. Asshats.1 point

I could easily watch 12 straight hours of the NFL or even March Madness. 12 minutes of the NBA is quite enough, thank you. Watching the NBA is like masturbating with a cheese grater...painful, or so I've been told. I wouldn't know I watched three old NHL Outdoor games today but basketball. Hell no.1 point
