Entre_Perpetuo
Are you f***ing kidding me right now? Rage Against The Machine is nothing but political and they rocked harder than any of those pusillanimous "bands". Perhaps, but the political thrill I get from U2's War is easily the first good memory that comes to mind when I think of political music I have liked, and I can subjectively choose to give that gut reaction precedence over harder rocking politics from arguably more politically serious bands like ratm if I so please. Of course you can and it's okay to be wrong. (Not sure if being playful or serious...) Of course it's okay to be wrong. But the beautiful thing about subjectivity is there is no wrong. :)

If rocking harder means sharing the stage at modern Woodstock festivals with Limp Bizket and Creed and playing to hoards of spoiled white college kids, than yes, Rage Against The Machine did rock harder than a band like Stiff Little Fingers who came out of mid 70s Belfast .. yep . . It's hard for anyone to get a message across when 100,000 drunk fools are screaming "Show us your tits" That 1999 Woodstock festival was a hypocritical abomination

KenJennings
Dream Theater's "On the Backs of Angels". It does a great job bemoaning the way political elites have corrupted the system and survive off the backs of their constituents. How the destructive force of government is used against the angels of creation. Standing on the backs of angelsDestined to createMounting the attackWhile heroes carry your weight We spiral towards disasterSurvival fading faster Riding out the waveContent to feed off the machineBleeding us to deathThe new American dream You're blinded by your hungerBeware your days are numbered Tears fall from the shamelessShelter me, guide me to the edge of the waterSelfless are the righteousBurden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter Blurring lines drawn in betweenWhat is right and what is wrongVictims on the radar string us along We're on to your agendaThe dead end road to nowhere Tears fall from the shamelessShelter me, guide me to the edge of the waterSelfless are the righteousBurden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter Tears fall from the shamelessShelter me, guide me to the edge of the waterSelfless are the righteousBurden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughterSelfless are the righteousBurden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTJRivZTMLs Edited June 6, 2016 by KenJennings
JohnnyBlaze
Bob Marley- Redemption SongRush, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, and Bob Dylan are in the special section of the shelf. All the other CDs look on in envy of those 4 acts...who also all happen to be political in their own powerful ways

Rutlefan
If "anti-war" can be considered "political" (often but not necessarily), this is my favorite "political" song, all due respect to "The Call Up" and "Sam Stone". Don't have a purely political favorite because no one's yet made a song titled, "I no longer dare to watch cable news for fear I might see a clip of a Hillary campaign speech." Fridge
I think this is possibly the best anti war song of all time....It deals with the horror of soldiers in WW1and 2 being executed for cowardice when they were actually suffering from shellshock. goose
Why are these women here dancing on their own?Why is there this sadness in their eyes? Why are the soldiers hereTheir faces fixed like stone?I can't see what it is that they despiseThey're dancing with the missingThey're dancing with the deadThey dance with the invisible onesTheir anguish is unsaidThey're dancing with their fathersThey're dancing with their sonsThey're dancing with their husbandsThey dance alone, they dance alone It's the only form of protest they're allowedI've seen their silent faces they scream so loudIf they were to speak these words they'd go missing tooAnother woman on the torture table what else can they doThey're dancing with the missingThey're dancing with the deadThey dance with the invisible onesTheir anguish is unsaidThey're dancing with their fathersThey're dancing with their sonsThey're dancing with their husbandsThey dance alone, they dance alone One day we'll dance on their gravesOne day we'll sing our freedomOne day we'll laugh in our joyAnd we'll danceOne day we'll dance on their gravesOne day we'll sing our freedomOne day we'll laugh in our joyAnd we'll dance Ellas danzan con los desaparecidosEllas danzan con los muertosEllas danzan con amores invisiblesEllas danzan con silenciosa angustiaDanzan con sus padresDanzan con sus hijosDanzan con sus espososEllas danzan solasDanzan solas Hey Mr. PinochetYou've sown a bitter cropIt's foreign money that supports youOne day the money's going to stopNo wages for your torturersNo budget for your gunsCan you think of your own motherDancin' with her invisible son...

g under p
As far as a band the choice has to be Michael Franti & Spearhead....even though today he has drifted away from his very political and anti war stances in the 90's and the early 2000's 1. Stay Human....Rock The Nation, Listener Supported, Oh My God, Stay Human and more are all gems 2. Yell Fire....too many to list after he visited Iraq 3.
