We all love Rush. Or else we wouldn't be here, right? But most of us also listen to other bands/artists.

So I wanna hear what your ten favorite bands/artists are! Start with your favorite and end with your least favorite!

It's hard to pick 10 favorites. But I guess I'll go with bands that I can listen to any of their music at any time and enjoy it. Rush is my all-time favorite but I'll leave them out of this list. These are in no particular order.

Symphony X

Led Zeppelin

Genesis

Van Halen

Joe Satriani

Elton John

Emerson Lake and Palmer

Loreena McKennitt

Kansas

The Police/Sting

Rush

Yes

These two are in a different category for me. Special music all over the place. The rest of these are all pretty much pre 80' music. They made music after that but this is the music I am basing my selections on for the most part.....

Led Zep

UFO

Judas Priest

AC/DC

Styx

Journey

Scorpions

Van Halen

Honorable mention.... Pat Travers Band, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles  , Boston

My favourites change from time to time. Sometimes I will intensely love only one era of a band, but I love that more than most other things. Here's some stuff I really REALLY like:

Rush

Iron Maiden (with Bruce; 80s stuff is best)

U2 (prior to 1986)

Ultravox (with Midge Ure)

Killing Joke

Nightwish (Imaginerum album; just getting into some other stuff)

Nevermore

Uh...

There are more to be listed here, I just can't think of them right now...

I should clarify that the above is how I feel at this moment in time. There have been many bands that were faves in the past but don't mean as much to me now...

My music tastes have varied over the years (and will continue to do so...) and I can't profess that I have a definitive top 10 favorite bands (nor a #1 favorite band, but Rush comes close to one) but these are the ten bands that I really like at this moment...at least to the point where I could listen to them frequently/any time I feel like it. In no particular order:

1. :rush:

2. Porcupine Tree

3. Steven Wilson (I separate his non-Porcupine Tree discography for personal reasons)

4. Iron Maiden

5. Opeth

6. Dream Theater

7. Katatonia

8. Tool

9. Devin Townsend

10. Isis

Other bands worth mentioning:

Dir En Grey (not quite a top 10 band yet, but they can possibly become one if they hold up well for me in a few months)

Aphex Twin (possibly the black sheep of the bands in my list)

Anathema

Alcest

My Bloody Valentine

Mastodon (Remission through Crack The Skye)

King Crimson (In The Court Of The Crimson King and Larks' Tongues In Aspic; I promised myself that I won't listen to more of KC's work until I can get hold of physical copies of their albums out of respect for Robert Fripp)

Pink Floyd (primarily Meddle through Animals; haven't listened to The Wall all the way through yet)

Yes (The Yes Album and Fragile; kind of a similar scenario with King Crimson, I'd feel cheated if I just downloaded their music)

And possibly a few more but that'll be overkill...
