The movie was fascinating, especially after seeing some of elements of production. The temple city set used for the sacrficial scenes was built on a scale one of the producers likened to something done by DeMille, or the set for Cleopatra. That sequence involved some 700 extras, of which around 200 involved in the sacrafice scene each had their own make up artist and hair or wig stylist. Also interesting was the piece by Simon Atherton, armourer and weapons specialist, who Mel Gibson had previously hired for the same work in Braveheart. Segue Myles Posted September 1, 2018 Share Posted September 1, 2018 Event Horizon (1997) (8/10) One of my favourite science fiction movies AND horrors, but a couple of things haven't aged well: some of the CGI (obviously) and the Token Black Guy Used For Comedic Effect really brought the tone down at times. It's still an amazing movie though, really tried to tap into the sense of dread and phycological terror that made so many classic horrors of the seventies so suspenseful and memorable.
