Far Cry IS the best thing (well, maybe other than MalNar) off of S&A. But, unlike the way that MLB makes there be a representative from every team in the All Star Game, Rush doesn't need a song from each album in the setlist. I would be perfectly happy if nothing from S&A is on the setlist for the next tour.

The song was powerful in the middle of the Time Machine setlist, but there so many better choices for an opener at this point in the band's career.

The opener should be a classic (ie 2112 overture, tsor never gets old), would hate to see them open with something "newer" - like the dreadful Dreamline.

Think you're right - its the best, enduring song off that album. S+A has not held up well for this fan, pretty subpar IMHO, but Far Cry is a very solid tune.'

Since my interpretation of the song is that it's them looking back at all that's happened in their career, I concur that it's a better closer (ending a show where they've just played many songs from it). But would I mind it being an opener? Not at all - love it and it always gets me fired up!

That reminds me - I've been wanting to start a game where we guess what songs are being referenced in Far Cry's lyrics. Now's as good a time as any - head on over to Roll The Bones if you're curious.

I'd also love to hear YYZ as an opener - now that would be killer!

Only for Toronto...it wouldn't ring true elsewhere, only for their home.

Why would that matter?

They specifically wrote it to evoke the memories of returning home to Toronto. To me, it doesn't seem appropriate to open a show anywhere else.

Rather Far Cry than TSoR, that just needs to get dropped already

Blasphemy :-)

My all time favorite song!! I don't care if they open with it, close with it or play it somewhere in between, but when I see Rush (and I have seen every tour since Grace Under Pressure) I need to hear TSOR!!

Or maybe they wanted to show off their kick-butt musical skills. confused13.gif

I love YYZ (it's in my top 10), and it belongs in the set list...just not at the top of the show, IMO, Toronto excepted...it definitely should be the opener there).
