  1. I heard the "Ghost" solo in La Villa today, for the very first time. It's been years since I've been here but I figured I'd share it with you guys as you'd probably appreciate it most. I know this has been a topic of conversation here many times but I wasn't able to find if anyone has posted a place to hear it. If this is old news and everyone has heard it, or knows of a better way to hear it, or version, sorry. Like I said, it's been a while. In an ancient interview, Alex mentions that if you listen carefully to La Villa, you can hear the original solo from the recording session "ghosted" through the recording, a solo that was replaced by the one you hear on Hemispheres. I've heard the song a million times and never heard the ghost solo and figured it was one of those things that you can only hear if you know exactly what to listen for and when. A secret I would never learn. Well in typical RUSH fashion, when you least expect something, or thought you'd heard it all, they surprise you with something new, even in something old. This link is to a Youtube "video" (there's no video, just a pic of Neil and the audio playing) of the isolated drum and bass tracks of La Villa but you can hear the guitar from the song playing faintly in the background. Go to the 4:00 mark and listen for about 40 seconds, do it a couple of times and tune out the drums and focus on the faint guitar in the background, sing along to it in your head even. At 4:10 you can hear an ascending riff playing even more faintly behind the solo we know from the recording. Listening further you can hear fragmented bits and pieces for the next 30 seconds or so with another spot being at about 4:28, but at 4:33 as Alex bends that A up to B (I think) you can really hear that same ascending riff faintly behind it all. Now this in no way is going to change your life or anything, and when it's all said and done it's not too terribly impressive, but, if you are an olde skool fan like me, and for ages have heard of this illusive creature, then this is your chance to finally hear a ghost.
  2. Great episode...Lots of Bangin'!!!! Woohoo...Yeah!!! Lay dat pipe!!! Really getting interesting too, can't wait to see what happens. I'm glad I didn't read any of the other books past the first one. Makes watching the HBO series much more enjoyable and exciting not knowing what happens next and comparing the two (yawn). Can't wait until next week!!!
  3. Around 20 years ago I had a Honda Civic with a thumping system in it. Great for all that Miami bass and early hip/hop but NOTHING sounded as good as on that system, and never sounded so good!!! Check out Xanadu from Exit...Stage Left. There is bass in there you probably never thought about hearing especially. (Especially fond of some Taurus Pedal bass in the last minute). Uninstalled that system in 99 but held onto everything until about 4 months ago. Always had the hopes of getting another car to put it in.
  4. I find the prospect of them playeing all of Signals very exciting. It's my "go to" studio album without question, also the album that cementedme as a fan. MP and E...SL were great, but it was Signals that did it for me. Signals was also the first tour I saw them on and as Tas7 stated the setlist was great. I can't wait.
  5. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 2 2012, 01:09 AM) Anyone else notice that Peter Dinklage now gets top billing in the credits? Pretty awesome! Very first thing I noticed!!!! Good episode. I only read the first book and had a really hard time doing so. I enjoyed the first HBO series of GOT but always felt myself comparing it to the book which I feel sort of marred the experience. I have not read any of the other books and really don't have plans to, so I kind of found myself enjoying this second season (although only 1 show in) more and hope to enjoy it more. Can't wait for next Sunday.
  6. I can't think of a more painful trip...My condolences.
  7. If they've dumped Hogarth and his whiney, snively weenie assed voice I might consider giving it a shot.
  8. That was really convincing...although it seemed a bit...crazy. There are crazier things out there. When the guy said something along of the lines of, "it's even easier than speech", that's what said no way to me. And then LL...I was asking myself, "is that LL Cool J"???!!! Forgot all about April 1. Really good joke though!!!
  9. I'm so glad the keys are back...I lost mine out in my back yard a few months ago and haven't been able to get into my car since.

I've never understood why people find it so funny and rate it as such a classic. Chevy, Rodney and Bill have their moments in it but i've never found it to be anything that special overall. Certainly not worth the high praise it seems to get all the time. I enjoy Caddyshack, but I do think it's significantly overrated. It's too all over the place and haphazard - maybe that's what people like about it. I agree, except I didn't really enjoy it (I found it meh). Still it's a classic compared to Caddyshack II. <--- Also not much of a fan of "Caddyshack." I love Caddyshack. Great jokes and great characters. It's basically a Marx Brothers movie where plot is way down on the list of priorities. The point is to make you laugh as loud as possible. For me Caddyshack accomplishes that every time I watch it. Yeah, I think that's where it loses it for me. I look at my list of favorite comedies, and all of them have a fairly coherent plot to move the story along while you're laughing. Interestingly, I just saw most of a biography on Caddyshack, and that's very much how it was filmed - a LOT of stuff was ad-libbed and scenes were hastily written on the spot or the day before, etc. They had to piece together a movie in the editing room, and it wasn't easy. That just confirmed what I always felt about the movie, that it had that haphazard quality to it. Funny in parts, but nowhere near one of my fave comedies. I saw the same documentary on the making of Caddyshack. That was really interesting. Just one huge never ending, good time party from what it sounded like...Unless you were Harold Ramis. It was originally written as a coming of age movie about the caddies, but with Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, and Rodney Dangerfield in it, they stole the show as most of their scenes were ad-libbed. The movie studio insisted on endless re-writes and with the three big stars doing the most funny stuff eventually it just became what it was, just a montage of skits with some story thrown in for continuity. I love Caddyshack and remember the night my dad took me, my sister and one of her friends to see in at the movies...i was about 11 and laughed my ass into hysteria.
  11. Nuerotica was definitely one of the high points on RTB.
  12. Never saw it but I seem to remember Blondie being it was a big thing...Maybe they were really popular at the time.
  13. I said 4. I liked it when it first came out, probably more for the excitement of new material than actually liking the songs...but as time has passed, so has the excitement and I find I barely listen to it at all and don't miss it very much.
  14. I agree...I'm overwhelmed...Come home from work and there are a threads and posts and multiple threads and posts...Too much...I'm just gonna wait until the song comes out.
  15. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Mar 26 2012, 05:16 PM) Which city were they shown dropping napalm on? Was that Atlanta? If so, why wasn't the whole city charred to a crisp when Rick rolled in? Shouldn't it have been devastated? Nice placement.
  16. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Mar 25 2012, 05:40 PM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ Mar 25 2012, 12:00 PM) I was always surprised that they didn't try to get some better transportation... Like that f***ing tank. Take that you zombie bitchez! That's what I say. As for the "why didn't they" questions...there are only about a million of those when referring to TWD.
  17. That name Lenny and the Squigtones and always stuck with me since the day I saw that episode in prime time.
  18. QUOTE (Babycat @ Mar 24 2012, 05:51 AM) most greatest worst Amazing combo!!! 10.0
  19. QUOTE (theredtamasrule @ Mar 23 2012, 11:09 PM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Mar 23 2012, 08:55 AM)Speaking of being a badass, Herschel's level went to the max in the season finale. The way he just stood his ground and mowed down all those zombies one after the other with his shotgun was great Having the Shark Code for nearly unlimited ammo doesn't hurt either...old man just stood there and kept on pumping lead. Only ran out just in time for Rick to save his ass. Thought about that too.....Did ya notice that nobody, moving or not, at close or long range missed his or her target? They should be the next contestants on Top Shot!!!
