Alsgalpal
Today is the last week of hell! I'm out of Farmers as of Friday. No more customers yelling at me because THEY don't pay their bills, or yelling at me because I won't cut them a special deal like the CSR gal does, and I won't bend the rules for them. No more people yelling at me in perfect English for not speaking Spanish. No more horrendous hours at Home Depot too! I gave them my notice Saturday, and they all told me that I'm more than welcome to come back if I need too. I cried, I love that job! But, I'm onto hopefully better things. A week from today, I start training for Allstate with my old employer that originally brought me into insurance. The one that I work so well with, and the one I've been kicking myself for leaving a year ago. I feel like I'm home now. I'm keeping positive about the whole thing, I will be successful and wildly so! I deserve this. With all the shit I've been through, I deserve success. So, this makes my day!!! :7up: http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/GIFs/eP1ab.gif http://i.imgur.com/KCzNKti.gif

Janie
Just a friendly reminder that those with special needs are human, too, and aren't people to avoid or feel uncomfortable around. They usually, in my experience anyway, turn out to be kind and friendly. They also have a lot to say if you take the time to interact with them in a way they can understand. She made my entire day :)My oldest has high-functioning autism and does pretty well but when people try to start a conversation with him, you can tell things are a bit "off." The only people who react well seem to be those like yourself (who are easily accepting and understanding) or others with a special needs person in their life. When I volunteer in his classroom at school, I see a lot of kids with varying degrees of needs. I love working with these children and seeing them. They try and struggle so hard with everything yet always seem so happy, especially when a task is accomplished. There is one little one who was shaken as an infant and I just want to hug him so tightly whenever I see him. I wish more people had your understanding hobo. It truly is rare to see people be accepting of someone who has special needs.

I know I can't. Let me be honest here, it has nothing to do with them it is me that is the problem. I feel uneasy around them and I get nervous around "normal" people, so when people with special needs act in a different way, I get anxious. Not that I'm proud of it, but I know it's one of my many shortcomings I need to work on. Don't why I posted that, other than I maybe felt a need to tell something honest
Narps
When I was working out at the gym today, I think I caught a fine woman (around my age and with all the parts in the right places) looking me over when I was on the bicep's machine. She was working on the elliptical machine right in front of me. Never mind, on second thought, maybe she just had something in her eye........... :codger:

I think many people share the same viewpoint. Maybe they don't want to say the wrong thing or have their actions taken in a wrong way, IDK. I've encountered people who seem offended when a person with special needs is in their space, shall we say. You're really missing out on a wonderful connection when you shy away (out of fear, or other reasons/feelings) from someone with special needs. Every morning, when I put my youngest on his school bus, there is a little boy with Down Syndrome who is just the cutest little guy. Always happy. Always smiling. We wave to each other every morning and I'll press my hand against the bus window next to him and he presses his hand against mine. So cute!

THAT'S what I have issues with =/ Thank you Janie :)I wish more people understood, too. In high school I sat next to the special ed table every year at lunch. I had an absolute blast with the students! Joking, laughing, even dance contests hahaha. The teachers were thrilled that I was there to interact with them.It got to where, every time that class passed me in the hallway, the kids would run up to me and give me a huge hug! Mara
Sherlock, my new Honda Element, is MINE!!!! Arrived at the buyer's lot yesterday, got a full inspection and detail job today, and I picked it up around 4 this afternoon. I haven't had a new car in 13 years. I'm letting the buyer service sell the Camry for me - that way I don't have to deal with a lot of weirdos and I won't have to carry the extra car on my insurance. It's used (Element's last production year was 2011), but it is in absolutely pristine condition. And thanks to Johnny Blaze for the name. :)

Your_Lion
Played a great gig last night. We've been working on a cover of Queen's One Vision for a short while, but we didn't think it was 100% ready to play in front of people...but for a bit of a risk, and to get the old adrenaline pumping, we decided at the last minute to throw it in. Although still slightly rough around the edges, It went down a storm.Apparently, even my attempt at 'Roger Taylor' backing vocals sounded good (and in-tune), which I'm very happy about.
