I am going to try and break it into parts, based on the vinyl tracklist. I just find after half an hour, it gets a little boring. Too long, trying too hard to make a big epic piece, the songs are all spotty, and interlude-y, and stuff starts to sound alike after a while...and that GOD AWFUL FREAKING SNARE DRUM SOUND!!! :fuckinputer: It made me want to drive into the side of a bridge at 100mph!!! LaBrie's got a nice voice, and I like some of the touches he puts on some of the different parts...Rudess's piano parts were nice, but I don't like his keyboard sounds...hard to distinguish where HE is vs. the orchestra, and some of the other stuff..sorry I like "sawtooth waves"....Petrucci's solo's and acoustic stuff here and there were nice. Myung was pretty non existent from his usual self...the drumming itself was interesting, Magnini's a decent drummer...but the snare sound really got into my craw, and detracted from the rest of the drum sound...I probably won't be listening to this one, too much....Guess I just like OLD DT....The past few albums haven't made me drool like they did in the past. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
