invisible airwave Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Billy Joel-The Nylon Curtain (10/10) this album is billy getting moree artsy (for him) and it's my fav Billy album. it's very John Lennon like in it's sound and vocals actually. it had 3 hits in Allentown, Pressure and Good night Saigon but some of my fav atr the album cuts Laura (very Lennon)Room of Our OwnNo Surprises (GREAT drum sound!!)Scandinavian Skies (VERY VERY Lennon, lol)Where's the Orchestra? (Love the Allentown musical reprise at the end) this would mark the end of billy's golden era for me. he would still continue to pump out hits till the end. but a fire sort of left him after this album and he became merely good as opposed to great. but that run of 5 albums makes him an all time fav for me. Mick Laura is definitely a nod to Working Class Hero with that savage F bomb drop. 2
Rick N. Backer Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Yesterday I listened to Bon Jovi's self-titled debut and 7800o Fahrenheit. 3
treeduck Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Epic!I'm going to have a break in the Schedule after 1978, for a couple of days, so I can listen to that one, plus a couple of other things. 3
Segue Myles Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 (edited) Epic!I'm going to have a break in the Schedule after 1978, for a couple of days, so I can listen to that one, plus a couple of other things. I think this album fixes a few issues we've discussed The songs aren't endless repetition, the songs ebb and flow more, not just eight minutes of "verse, chorus, verse". I love the album to be honest, I think it's the best since AMOLAD, maybe even Seventh Son. This and Firepower might be my favourite metal albums of the last three years.
