Classic Rock songs that make you immediately turn the station

Recommended Posts

China Grove - Doobie Brothers

You're not supposed to call it that anymore. :tsk:

The song is based on a real small town in Texas.[5] Tom Johnston thought he had created a fictional town called "China Grove" near San Antonio and later learned it really exists from his cab driver in Houston.[6] Johnston later explained that the band had been on tour passing through the town of China Grove on the way to or from San Antonio, and he had seen a road sign with the name, but somehow had forgotten about it.[7]

Hearing his explanation, Page and Plant immediately made him an honorary member of Led Zeppelin.

Whether you're just sick of hearing them or whether they've always sucked, these songs always make you change the station, even at risk to your health and well being.

I'll go first:

Why Can't This Be Love? - Van Hagar

Finish what you started. Or whatever that song is called.

Not sure which is worst but they both suck.

Can you imagine DLR singing either of those?

All songs by joan jett

I love rock and roll

I hate myself for loving you etc etc

All songs by poison.

Agreed except I'll still listen to Something to Believe In.

At least that power ballad was about the loss of their friend and had some meaning other than that other one he just wrote to get laid after being thorned.

Anything by Bob Seger or Bruce Springsteen. Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama, and Stairway to Heaven. Probably plenty more but who's got the time? I also hate when they play 2 songs back to back. I can't remember the first song but "Livin Lovin" Maid" (or some shit) is the second one. If you didn't know better, you'd think it was one song. Edited by Fordgalaxy

When It's Love by Whitesnake

Did you mean 'When It's Love' by Van Halen or 'Is This Love' by Whitesnake?

Both.

There's a lady friend I know who owns the typical 'classic rock' albums in her collection.

She no longer listens to the songs that were hits as they've been overplayed.

However she appreciates the deeper cuts from those albums instead.

I read this post with the melody of STH in my head

to add - I haven't listened to Classic Rock Radio in many years. I can probably pinpoint the last time I listened to Q107 in Toronto. May 24 Weekend 2007. They broadcast a live Max Webster Reunion show and that was quite excellent of them but as much as I am entombed in the past regarding my music listening - I can't stomach Classic Rock Corporate Radio

No More Tears by Ozzy

:boo hiss: One of the best Zakk era songs IMO. Off the top of my head, maybe only I Don't Want to Change the World is better.

It bores me to tears.

If I never liked and therefore listened to anything by Crue, does it disqualify me now since I still turn the station immediately after hearing one of their songs come on?

Was never a fan either.

Can't Get No Satisfaction. Please stop. Please. Its tired. Its a song on the radio daily that's actually OLDER THAN ME.

When I was young, I really liked Skynyrd. Now I don't.

Kashmir by Zep. Epic, loved it. Beaten to death by Classic Rock Radio.

I've been taking a break from radio at work. My Youtube genome has actually put together a good mix of what I've been into lately. Redbone, Indigenous, live Santana from '68... and a pile of Motorhead. It works quite well. Motorhead has a lot of slower blues based stuff. Been into '80's Rush lately, too.

If you watch the video, you won't be bored to tears.

When you see the woman crying a river and Ozzy moving around like a jungle animal, than the song doesn't come across as boring.

Agreed on all but WBTC is a guilty pleasure, I love the energy going though it, even that production I don't have a problem with.
