Rick N. Backer Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Pre-British Steel Priest can't compete with Maiden.
edhunter Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 There is no possible poll where priest ever comes out ahead of maiden in any category whatsoever. I have spoken 2
Entre_Perpetuo Posted April 29, 2020 Author Posted April 29, 2020 Wow, wonder when the Priest fans are gonna show up, lol! ....or maybe they already have
treeduck Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 These polls are just a question of mathematics. On TRF there's more Maiden fans than there are Priest fans, so Maiden win all the polls. Therefore there's no point doing them.

Also aren't polls the way of finding out if there are more fans of one thing or the other? There are definitely a lot of Priest fans around here.
TexMike Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 Ordinarily I'm a Priest guy, but Phantom is among Maiden's very best while Victim (IMO) is a bit overrated. So Maiden......this time. ;)

J2112YYZ Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 Maiden. Victim is nothing but lies. Halford is gay but he's singing about a woman lol.
Entre_Perpetuo Posted April 30, 2020 Author Posted April 30, 2020 Maiden. Victim is nothing but lies. Halford is gay but he's singing about a woman lol. Why is that a worse lie than Di'Anno or Dickenson singing about experiences with a phantom they've never had? Isn't songwriting often about storytelling anyway? What would songs be like if they could only be autobiographical? Also gay men singing about women is pretty standard fare for the 70s, it was assumed back then that if you came out as gay your sales would drop. Check out Fat Bottomed Girls or Tiny Dancer. I'll grant you neither set of lyrics was written by the singer, but that doesn't seem to have stopped them from singing the words written for them. 1

I wasn't going to get this one but I looked it up on discogs clicked the "more images" link and now it's on the list! And the list is MIGHTY at this point.

Every once in a while internet slang doesn't quite do the job.
bathory Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 victim of changes is probably the best priest song. phantom might not even be the best song on the first maiden album. and bruce's voice is shot on live after death

Texas King Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 I'm a bigger Maiden fan, but VOC easily wins in my book, esp. the version from Unleashed in the East, it absolutely blows away the live Maiden version.
GeddyLeeRoth Posted May 10, 2020 Posted May 10, 2020 Both are great, great songs. Phantom is my favorite song from my favorite metal band of all time so I didn't hesitate to vote Phantom.
