Toss-up between Dark Side and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for me. And that leaves out at least a half dozen others that I have a lot of heartache leaving out.

Yeah

I went with DSOTM because I saw Pink Floyd perform DSOTM at Roosevelt June 1973.

I went with Quadrophenia because I slept out overnight at The Spectrum in Philly to get floor seats to see The Who perform Quadrophenia Dec 1973.

I went with A Passion Play because I saw Jethro Tull perform A Passion Play at MSG August 1973.

I went with Houses of the Holy because I saw Led Zeppelin tour supporting HOTH at MSG August 1973.

I went with Brain Salad Surgery because I saw ELP perform BSS at MSG Dec 1973.

I went with Tales from Topographic Oceans because I saw YES perform Tales at MSG Feb 1974.

I went with Goats Head Soup because it's a great album.

I went with A Wizard, A True Star because it didn't make it to this list.

I don't want to live in a world without Freebird!

I had it in there in the 40 options up until near the end but I had to make room for another choice. On another day it could have been in instead of Uriah Heep, but that one was already secure in my mind in the 40.

Wow, what a line up! Another off label vote for The Wild, The Innocent, and The E Street Shuffle by Brooce.

Had to actually vote for ZZ Top; their blues guitar sound was so new and powerful back then. I still love to listen to that album.

Really you couldn't go wrong with any of these, though.

Giving up the hell-porch of being indecisive, remembering it's just for fun, and applying my new standard of thinking about the effect of the whole rather than my favorite songs, I've come to the not-very-original choice of DSOTM.

I am having a hard time choosing between Dark Side and Quadrophenia.

Concerning 1973 releases, one album not on here that came out this year: Ladies Invited by The J. Geils Band. I think that should be on this list and you should buy it if you do not have it. Entre may be right about this year of music.
