Entre_Perpetuo
Well this is impossible, but hey, worth a try: 1. Van Halen2. Women And Children First3. Fair Warning4. 19845. Van Halen II6. 51507. Diver Down8. Balance Those are the ones I've heard. Change incoming 1. Women And Children First2. Fair Warning3. Van Halen4. 19845. 51506. Van Halen II7. Diver Down8. Balance Giving the other two Sammy albums a listen tomorrow, and maybe a relisten for Balance. The other ones (and also OU812 actually) I’ve never heard, those will get listens as well (yes even VH III).

Mosher
1: Fair Warning 2: Van Halen3: Women and Children First4: Van Halen II 5: 1984 6: Diver Down 7: 5150 8: OU812 9: For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Stopped paying attention after that. Van Hagar started...ok...but each subsequent album was worse than the one before. But the first 6 albums with Roth were all good. For me, Fair Warning is by far the peak. I played a lot of Van Halen recently, and I still love it. I'm sure the later work features great playing, just wasn't for me.

It has David Lee Roth back in the saddle again, and Eddie still kicks ass.

VH albums are like Rush albums - the priority list keeps changing. Also - If you listen to ADKOT after 1984, it sounds like a proper sequel. I couldn`t have been more excited when it came out and loved it straightaway after a 28-year VH drought. There`s the really typical DLR swagger going on, and Eddie sounds like young Eddie - partly rejuvenated by Wolfie and partly because a lot of the material was from the 70s. The solo in Big River for example, sounded just the same when it was called Big Trouble and it really is magical, whereas Chinatown is new and hearing Wolf and Ed duelling for the tapping intro is a beautiful thing. I wonder if Wolfie will spend some time with Uncle Alex accessing the mysterious 5150 studio vaults...
