I bought my husband a cordless power tool that he wanted, with one of those slide on batteries at the bottom. I thought 24 volts sounded good, lots of power, right? :lol: He was so excited and plugged the battery in to charge and I hear this weird noise, like a fan.

 

 

It is a fan! It creates so much heat charging that the battery charger cools itself! :lol: Not gonna leave it unattended while charging, though. Wonders of modern batteries.

So excited to get a phone call from my daughter tonight- "Our cat is sick and has to have an emergency vet visit tomorrow morning. Spouse will take her but then I don't have a ride home from the oral surgeon's. Can you come with me and drive me home?"

 

I'm very glad they could work the kitty in, but her appointment is in a place an hour plus away. An hour there, and an hour plus back, blahhhhhhhh. I had other plans for my Friday. Crappy back roads, too. Sigh. It could be worse but I hate last minute changes.

The Ryder Cup is the pinnacle of international golf competition, and I look forward to watching it every two years. For some reason, when players are even in a match they can no longer describe them as "all square", as is tradition in match play. TV coverage now announces and posts with "tied", cuz, you know, who understands what "square" means.

Facepalm really really doesn`t cut it - but a guy that I worked with up until 2017 in Northampton has been found guilty of having 606 indecent images on his electronic devices. He had his devices taken by police in November 2017, and he told me - I was his manager at the time - that his stepson (who is about 25 now) had been accessing child porn on the dark web which was why he wouldn`t have a phone. It has taken four years to get to court! He has been convicted so it is not a problem for me to name him but I won`t as it won`t mean much to anyone here.

 

So not only did he access the images, he blamed a really troubled kid, who - and it gets worse - whose real father was imprisoned for sexually abusing his own daughter when she was very young - stepdaughter of the man I worked with and sister of the kid he blamed.

 

He has avoided prison as his partner has Chronic Kidney Failure and he is her carer.

 

I`m rarely speechless.

He`s like a good-natured fool, short fat Geordie-accented nice guy, but yeah....I`m wondering if I met him again what I`d do. it`s obvious to be really hostile but then it goes against my feelings that people deserve second chances. But the fact he`s escaped any real punishment other than public shaming means he`s got away with some really lowlife behaviour, and you only get to the rehabilitation part if you actually pay some debt IMO.
