What Made You Do A Facepalm Today??

An American Airlines flight attendant taped his iPhone to the toilet seat right before a 14 year-old girl used the restroom.

The girl spotted it, took her own picture of it and told her father.

Caught red-handed, the creep furiously deleted a bunch of stuff before giving his phone to the girl's father.

The family is suing AA, of course.  The company is not talking.....of course.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (my alma mater) has fired its chancellor, Joe Gow, for making sex videos with his wife and posting them on several websites.  Seventeen years of public service at UW-L just went down the drain for Gow, who has few regrets about his behavior.

He's just your ordinary 63 year-old executive who has a healthy sex life....

Sure, and he's an exhibitionist on top of it.  He can have that healthy sex life all he wants, just doesn't have to share it with the world

I've lived at enough crash pads to be good at politely ignoring two people humping up a storm in the next room.

My favorite thing is to ask them later "Y'all m*therf*ckers need condoms or coffee? I'll be back soon."

Ahhhh humans.

That is the real issue here.  He's an exhibitionist and 1st Amendment zealot.  A few years ago, he invited a porn star to give a talk about 1st Amendment rights at the University, and it caused much controversy.  He was sanctioned for doing it.  He has no regrets about his actions, which he sees are perfectly within his 1st Amendment rights.

1st amendment rights, yes.  Employment conditions, no.  Why those are continually conflated is beyond me.

To be clear after being sanctioned I would have gotten the hint. Still, in 2024 this surprises me when a university DEI hire can survive multiple plagiarism allegations.

Just imagine if Gow were a K-12 school principal or teacher.  Would he have supporters then?

From kindergarten through college, teachers and administrators hold the same duties and responsibilities.  Gow just doesn't get it.

Reports are that GOP state senator Dusty Hawckert of South Dakota got shot in the foot this morning by his 6-year-old son who was playing with the AR-15 Hawckert got him for Christmas to "own the libs."

I don't care what you think about guns but if you give a 6 year old an AR style rifle you are a terrible parent. Lucky for him it was just his foot but maybe he'll have a permanent limp to remind him of his very poor decision.

But he's not; he works with adults. You know, people who can make rational choices about association. The same "duties and responsibilities" in the general sense of "education," sure, but definitely not the same audience. Colleges and universities can, and should, do all kinds of things middle schools students don't/can't/shouldn't, from science experiments to experimental theater.

As for the conflation of First Amendment and employment, this situation is trickier than that dichotomy because a public school is an organ (no pun intended) of the state, so the college firing him is the "government" punishing him, which is what the 1st is supposed to prevent. If he worked at a private school, that would be different.

Having said all that: What a dumbass.

Not trying to derail the facepalming thread, just chipping in . . .

There is no State Senator Dusty Hawckert.  You're quoting a satirical piece.

DOH! How about this one. A North Carolina preacher went to the McDonalds where his wife worked and tried to push an employees face into the deep fryer. What caused him to behave so un-Christlike you may ask? His wife said the other employee was "disrespecting" her. Since when is supposedly getting disrespected a fate worse than death? Sticks and stones and all that.

Advice columns!

I fell into the trap of reading a couple of advice columns recently.  My GAWD.....are these letters real or are they fabricated!  The dysfunction, the ridiculously messed up people, the spineless people asking for the Advice Expert's permission to stand up for themselves.....

I give myself a  for reading it all.

It's like the rubber necking at an accident, people can't seem to help themselves.  I get your frustration, I have been doing a similar thing with YT, stuff pops up in my feed and I click and then smack my forehead...why did I go there??  :laugh2:

Soap operas!  They suck you in, and you end up waist deep in all the characters' dysfunctional lives.  Repugnant, yet you can't look away.... :wagfinger:

OK, I've lived in snow country most of my life.  Everywhere except here they plow to the center, creating a natural barrier from head-on traffic  and keeping driveways from being plowed in.

But here they clear the center and plow to the roadside, so after a 12" dump you wake up to 24+" of compacted snow piled I'm front of your driveway.

Two hours it took me to dig out my drive and the drives of my elderly neighbors

I have spent many hours resting my back over the years after clearing those darned barriers. Or you take it at speed and have to call the office because you are late, digging your vehicle off the top.

Some cities have "lift thingies" where they can keep the pile away from entrances, others don't. Weird. But we all pay a lot of taxes up here because of mother nature. In many cities, tens of millions of dollars just because of geography.

Some shirtless guy at the NFL game in Kansas City tonight. I wonder what frostbitten nipples feel like?

John Madden was super-annoying when doing NFL games, but he had one wonderful quality:  He wouldn't tolerate the cameramen zooming in on the shirtless morons in the stands.
