invisible airwave
I'm extremely excited for it still. Although folks saying Rami Malek looks just like Freddie are pretty wrong, but he's a good actor for the role. Now the guy playing Brian on the other hand...it's like the astrophysicist actually was aboard that spaceship in his song '39. The 2nd trailer looked pretty good. The 1st one didn't convince me, but the 2nd made me curious. Keep your eyes peeled for the John Deacon cameo! :laughing guy: The real one played by the little boy from Jurassic Park.

blueschica
Another trailer out today- sounds like Brian May is happy with the way the band's playing is portrayed in the movie- I really hope they got that right! :P
toymaker
Someone on the Internet somewhere made a comment and now I can't get it out of my head . . . don't read this spoiler if you don't want the illusion destroyed like I think it has been for me . . . "the guy playing Mercury looks more like Jagger" . . . Now I don't think I'll be able to watch the movie without thinking that the whole time. New_World_Man
Wow, you would think more Rush fans would be into this but I guess not. I plan on seeing it but haven't yet. I talked to someone who said it was very good and I like that Mike Meyers was in it(not a whole lot but at least he's in it)so I'll probably check it out hopefully while it's still in the theater. Anyway, not to knock Queen because I do like them but these bands should have had a movie made about them before Queen imo: The BeatlesThe Rolling StonesThe WhoLed ZeppelinThe KinksPink FloydRushU2 Edited November 5, 2018 by New_World_Man

We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions alone might be the biggest hit singles of all time considering how they've become enduring sports anthems that many people aren't even aware are by a real artist. On top of that are the other at least half a dozen massive hit singles that are still really well-known (Another One Bites The Dust, Somebody To Love, Don't Stop Me Now, Bohemian Rhapsody, Under Pressure, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want To Break Free), and not just to people who were there when those songs came out. Perhaps most importantly, Freddie Mercury has become the go to example of great singing and performing, as well as a decently famous internet meme. The internet loves Freddie and loves Queen, and I don't think it's just the hardcore fans talking. Meanwhile I don't see the same amount of enthusiasm for The Kinks, The Who, and Rush (as vocal as Rush fans are, we're still a minority of music fans). And U2 aren't past their midlife crisis yet, too soon to have a movie about their early success. Now the Beatles, the Stones, Floyd, and Zep I agree need their own movies. Those might be the four most significant bands in all of rock and roll.
workingcinderellaman
Saw it last night and I thought it was outstanding. I really liked the casting and thought they did a great job. The timeline was a little off, but that's O.K.

toymaker
I love Rush but a movie about them? It would be dull. I think I would watch a movie about Lifeson's backstage antics. Also, as someone interested in how the big artists compose their songs, it would be cool to see how the songs came together, from strummed acoustics in the backseat of the "tour car" to working out the parts in the studio. I'm not that interested in the personal drama of rock bands anyway. But I guess that's what feeds people's curiosity.
thesweetscience
I enjoyed it in spite of the artistic liberties it took in terms of the bands history and various time lines. The casting and performances were spot on and of course, the music was great. Like all stories and documentaries I have seen about the band Queen, it made me sad. We lost an amazing talent way too early.
bluefox4000
this was an enjoyable flick. obvious liberties taken. but......this movie had a cloud of saddness over it......i mean Obviously, lol. i left it very down. also i said this in another thread. but the big HUGE takeaway this flick drove home. Freddie..........was a dick to Roger. OH........MY GOD. i don't know what it was. but this movie wanted me to know. "hey Mick......Roger Taylor sucks!!!" i mean wow......was it just me? LMFAO!!! he got so dumped on, lol Mick

Agreed but there is a big difference between a really personal documentary and the telling of a story of three nice guys who form a rock band and do drugs and stay friends and cause no controversy ever.
Fordgalaxy
From the professional reviews I've read, they didn't like it. From the fans I know who saw it, they said it was great. Maybe don't go thinking it's an accurate depiction but more for it's entertainment value.
JohnnyBlaze
I love Rush but a movie about them? It would be dull. Depends what angle they take. They don’t have to be written as pricks or drug addicts for it to be interesting or exciting. I think those early years could be pretty interesting. The movie could start before Working Man was written and end with the release of 2112. In between you’ve got their first American gig, tours with Kiss, the Down the Tubes tour, writing in the back of a station wagon, etc. That could be cool but mainly it depends on who’s writing and who’s directing. Who thought a Rush documentary would be widely accepted?...but it actually ended up doing just that Edited November 8, 2018 by JohnnyBlaze
bluefox4000
I'd watch a Rush Biopic. you could go into lots of stuff. i imagine the eearly days. they might make Ged's voice a HUGE obsticle against success. I could just see it, lol Mick

It's not their Bohemian Rhapsody, but probably a title everyone would immediately associate with them.

Segue Myles
I could watch a Rush movie taken from the angle of Geddy and Alex being childhood friends and the early days of the band leading to meeting Neil. That could be really fun and inspiring, and I imagine it in a sort of Ron Howard way, I think he'd really bring the warmth and comedy out. It would need to stay really true to the guys personalities but in general I'm really happy just watching their interviews and documentaries
