Not including Rush...

Missing Persons - Spring Session M

Triumph - Allied Forces

Living Colour - Vivid

Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking

REM - all of their 80s stuff!

Til Tuesday - Voices Carry

The Outfield - Play Deep

The Cure - The Head on the Door + Disintegration

Those are the standouts anyway.

How could I also

Forget REM?? Ugh

That would have been band #11 on my list of ten. I just didn't listen to them much until Eponymous came out.

Murmur, Life's Rich Pageant, and Document are home runs. Green was the weakest of the 80s albums IMHO and it still had enough quality tunes on there for me to say it was good.

Bone Machine is a great album, but it isn't an 80's album.

Any album by Tom is a legitimate contender.

A rare example when a band's most popular album is also their best:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miD_1FN99lc

Off the top of my head:

Moving Pictures, Purple Rain, Eliminator, Rio, 90125, Paranoid, Blizzard of Ozz, Holy Diver, Screaming for Vengeance, Lights Out, Hi Infidelity.

More often, the most popular album by a band is their most popular album for a reason.

LOTS of them.. I was a teenager in the 80s. Interestingly enough, most of my favorite 80s albums turned out to be from the first few years of that decade.

Genesis - Duke, Three Sides Live

Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast

R.E.M. - Life's Rich Pageant, Green

U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

Rush - All of the 80s albums, but especially PermWaves, Signals, and Hold Your Fire

Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance

Ozzy - Diary of a Madman

King Crimson - Discipline

Yes - 90125, Drama

Asia - first album

Pat Metheny - Travels, Still Life Talking, First Circle

Marillion - Clutching at Straws

Lyle Mays - Lyle Mays

Journey - Escape

Foreigner - 4

Police - Ghost in the Machine

I could think of a bunch more, but these are the standouts for me.

Guys, Permanent Waves is a 70s album. Quit hijacking my thread with that 70s release, I want just the 80s stuff in here.

:P ;)

That would be a very long list... (and I'm lazy) :smoke:

At the moment my absolute fave from the 80's is probably Billy Idol - Rebel Yell :haz:

You're right, I guess I had the 'die hard' fan mindset in mind when I wrote this.

These are the guys here who like Test for Echo over Moving Pictures lol (you know they are out there!)
