  1. Very surprised there's not a post about this (unless I missed it). Doubly sweet since I live in Pittsburgh, where it happened. Not a native yinzer, but I feel the love for sure. When Beyond the Lighted Stage was in theaters, when they showed an overheard shot of Civic Arena and mentioned Neil's 1st show, the entire auditorium erupted.

  3. By The Way was the peak for me. I enjoy the more 'mature' sounding songs on it, and later releases (yes, all of them) more than the earlier stuff these days.

  4. Thanks so much for the kind wishes, everyone! It's been a heck of a five weeks, I had unhappy intestines and ended up getting cut open from ribs to hip and spending 10 days in intensive care (mainly so that they could keep a close eye on my 6 IVs.) Have been home for 3.5 weeks now (I think!) and pretty close to getting back to normal but heck, what an experience, Just glad to not be laying in the hospital and watching pizza ads on TV while I couldn't eat! And I come home and my elderly mom says "Did they give you any good pills for sleep or pain?" She tried to pretend she was kidding. I guess I disappointed her, they had given me everything in an IV. When I came home I was done! Happy 50th Anniversary, Neil and Rush at the Civic Arena! My hometown! I had a friend that wanted to go to Uriah Heep but my family took me on vacation!

  5. Worked from home today so it was back to the moving box and whatever vinyl came out got listened to. First out: Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers - Live: Pack up the Plantation. Yuck. Glad I got this used (the price sticker of $6.99 is still on it) because, IMO, its a dog. Just terrible. At some point I will take this to my local used record store and try to sell it. I believe the only other T/P I own is Dam the Torpedoes. But overall I don't care for T/P. Saw him in concert once and I believe I walked out. Jackson Brown, who opened, was way better. Not my cup of tea. Next out of the moving box: Yes - Fragile This is more like it. Good music. Enjoyable album. Next out of the box: Mountain - Flowers of Evil Another enjoyable album. Note - I saw Leslie West of Mountain in concert in, I believe it was either 1992 or 1993. The show was under a festival tent in Rochester NY. Good show. Next out of the box: Mountain - Climbing Another good album. Additional note - In the late 1990's I got talking about music with a secretary in my office who, when I mentioned that I liked Mountain, told me that at one time she had dated Felix Peppalardi. Don't know if its true but she at least knew who he was and that he had been a member of Mountain - so it could be. If so, its an interesting and small world. And no, I did not ask for any details. Next out of the box: Mountain - The Best of Mountain Obviously I liked this album. Next out of the box: Blind Faith - Blind Faith Another enjoyable album. Last out of the box for the day: Deep Purple - Machine Head A classic that stands up to time. So, once I got past that first album that I did not care for, it was one good album after another today.

  18. She doesn't go into a lot of detail on the podcast but it sounded like it wasn't the best household in which to live. I'm looking forward to reading her memoir.

  19. I will have to try and listen to it, thanks. She has a biography being released next week and I read an article somewhere about it. Apparently it was a somewhat difficult house to grow up in and their mom caused problems after Frank died??

  27. The US skating team from 2022 just got their medals at Paris, after a long drawn out fight over doping by the Russians. There was the controversy in 2002 with pairs skating and two gold medals were given to the Russians and Canadians. So perhaps Jordan will get one eventually. At least she has the team gold medal.

  30. thing about Karen is if she had her way she would have stayed behind the kit and sang. she liked the confidence the kit gave her. But Richard (and managment) insisteed no your the singer we need you out front. I found her drumming for the music really tasteful. she wasn't show-y or wild. However i feel she played for the song. I actually love the Carpenters. Mick
