  1. Sometimes that works best. After I got divorced in 2004 I tried dating sites, went on a few dates. Dated one for a few months, didn't feel "right" and ended that. Decided to just let it flow and see what would happen on it's own. A few months later I met an amazing woman, who is now my wife. Totally by chance. I think sometimes when you're "trying" to find someone there is some kind of vibe people put out that others pickup on. When you are there out there doing your own thing and not actively looking things just fall inot place. If your online personaltiy is any indication of your "real life" personality the "right" girl will show up, probably when you least expect it. My online personality is the exact same as the real world personality, for better or worse . Interesting thing is that when I'm in relationship my self-confidence attracts more people, and when I'm single not so much. I choose to believe that being whole on your own is far more attractive than someone looking for another to fill in a part in you. :)

  2. Hi all :hi: I thought I'd make use of this new sub-forum to share some stuff. Firstly, I've posted this before, and I've had a link to it in my profile, but for those of you who haven't checked it out, please do... Nutcasey https://soundcloud.com/tobias-dear/nutcasey An instrumental piece recorded on my home 12 track. Everything is me, including programmed drums. It's basically me attempting a kind of Steve Vai style extravaganza. Enjoy Next up, I haven't posted this before, because I've only just heard it myself. My band's cover of Maiden classic Hallowed Be Thy Name. https://soundcloud.com/tobias-dear/hallowed-be-thy-name The recording isn't perfect. Just a couple of mics set up in the practice room, but you get the idea. There's a few fluffs, and the solo isn't my best, but remember, I'm only one guitarist, not the two or three that Maiden has. Thank you for taking the time. Hope you enjoy

  3. Geddy devoted his life to pleasing us fans. In return, he earned a good living. He deserves to indulge himself with hobblies that give him pleasure. It's nice that he's willing to share this picture of his personal life.

  4. AGP is right. Hell even on here... you'll never know who you will meet. I met my significant other here on TRF. Nothing really much happened till we met IRL at a Rush Concert (of course) and then got to be actual friends and then started seeing a lot more of each other and now it's been over 5 years and we're still crazy about each other perhaps even more so. :)

  5. All the greats are great because the play true to themselves. On any given day I can think someone is the absolute best at what they do, the next day I think it's someone else. I don't have a favorite drummer. I have my favorite drummers. Peart and Bonham are on the list.

  9. FYI I met Eric online. It was some stupid website that one of my employees told me to try because "It's super cool, people rate your pics!" Well, one rainy weekend I was bored and wanted to see what I would rate. I put up four pics. One of me standing with helmet hair, in my riding gear looking all mean n' stuff with two other motorcycle friends. The other was one of me that same day kissing the fairing of my bike. The other was a head shot of me in make up and the other was one at the beach with a ball cap on trying to keep from getting sandblasted. Then I forgot about it for a week or two. When I remembered, I logged on and was surprised to find my pics at a 9.5 out of 10. I thought "Holy shit. These people MUST be desparate." I started rating pics myself. I gave low scores to women that were doing duck faces and showing cleavage and giving high scores to the classy ones. The guys, well I was a real bitch to the ones that were dressed like douche bags. Then I saw the most beautiful man I've ever laid my eyes upon. I looked at his profile, saw a couple girls were fighting over him and then saw that he was indeed beautiful and we had 99.99% of our interests in common. I emailed him explaining that I wasn't really looking for a boyfriend, that I enjoyed my life and career. I also told him about the things I enjoyed doing. Flying RC aircraft, photography, horses, hiking, fishing, camping, and most of all, spending time with friends and my beloved sportbikes. His first words back to me were "Oh my god. Are you for real?!??" The rest is history. He's my very best friend. The love of my life. I never knew that you could love someone so much that wasn't your child. That kind of love was lost on me. I never knew love until I met the man that has been so supportive of my dreams, my goals, he helped me get back into riding again after my accident. I almost gave it up, and he saw how much that broke me and so he bought my Ninja for me and we haven't looked back. We've been through hell and back together, and we are doing just fine. We've helped each other, we've hurt each other, we've loved each other and we are each others friend. He's not a perfect person, but he's perfect for us. My girls love him and prefer him over their dad, and he's a wonderful step parent to them. I'm so thankful that we have him in our lives, and we are so blessed. He took on a family that wasn't his when he was 25 and has supported us very well. I didn't want him to have to do that, but he did. I take care of him at home. I make sure that dinners always made, that the house is clean, the yard work done and his laundry done so he can do the things he wants to do since he's so good to me. He will massage my back for me every night if I need it and sometimes at the end of the day, we will be together on the couch massaging legs/backs just spending time together. This still is going on after almost 7 years together. I'm so glad I didn't give up on him during our trials. I've been strong for him since he's been strong for me. I truly love this man with all my heart and soul and never regret joining that stupid website. Online dating isn't so bad, but just go into it with an open mind and no expectations and the universe will bless you with your own best friend! I truly wish everyone in the world had their own version of their Eric. The world would be such a better place. Don't give up. Someone is out there that will give you wings and un ending love.

  10. *sigh* he's got on tight pants in one picture, a sleeveless shirt in two pictures and the shirt that we all love, the black one that unbuttons and shows off a bit of the chest fuzz. You had me at tight pants....

  12. I started a vegetarian diet 2 weeks ago. Seems it will be pretty easy for me. I don't eat much crap anymore anyway. Seems a natural progression to make. I will have meat one a month or every couple months if I feel like it or on a special occasion if I want too. I won't be a dick about my diet with others. Its just something I feel like doing for myself....

  14. this thread documents several tests and trials of entity -858993460 in it's progress of conversion from human to robot. such a journey requires -858993460 to become increasingly more: efficient, logical, sustainable, useful; robotic. and decreasingly: emotional, error prone, sexual; human. -858993460 has been in a long process of debugging, but in recent months process of mentioned debugging has been accelerating. the infinitely self-charging core instruction -858993460 follows as a human is to not grow discouraged and rather continue to work on the debugging process; fixing minor and major programming errors. this instruction's results have been proportional in decreasing emotion and raising output.

  20. "It's more spontaneous babbling! You get kinda goofy at the end of a show, especially near the end of a lengthy tour. That was just crazy rambling, verbal farting. It was Geddy's idea to put it on the video." - Alex Lifeson, Kerrang No. 388, April 18, 1992 "That's kind of a joke, but it doesn't seem like many people are getting that joke. Actually, Alex, at certain parts of that song, would just start rambling into the microphone - all kinds of various nonsense, and it actually never got recorded anywhere. So no one had any idea, including him, what he had actually said. But we loved the shot of him just ranting into this microphone, so we decided we would put up this bogus 'radioactive' warning about the fact that we had 'censored' what he had said, and we thought we did it in kind of an obvious way - it looked like it was phony, because we put the radioactivity symbols right on the screen, but nobody seems to be getting that." - Geddy Lee, Rockline, December 4, 1989

  25. What? This isn't metal?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utUOt1kmP0o Or this.. They still had their edge on MOST of British Steel "Masquerader in his lair Wants to tangle in your hair" Doesn't come much gayer than that. Tony just feels like his masculinity is threatened, he doesn't want anyone touching his mother-in-law wig. ;) Whereas you do. I laugh about some of the Rush fanboys on here but your over-protective, over-sensitive attitude to any negativity about Judas Priest is on a different level. You're the one taking this seriously Tony-O just because I told you to fuckk off! You've stooped to personal insults since then Hah! That's all you need to do to push Tony's buttons, just tell him to f**k off! :hi: Interesting. Another trait of the fanboy, insult his band and it becomes a personal insult. Well let's see you've called me gay, a saddo, that wasn't directed at the band.. You just don't like being told, that's your problem. I don't even need to say anything else, with each post you make you're hanging yourself tighter with your own rope.

  38. This may very well be the worst team that the Blue Jays have fielded in a long time. Decent young talent and a few veterans, a weak rotation (Buehrle is the bright spot). The true problem with the Blue Jays (imo) is John Gibbons. Worst. Hire. Ever. I really wish they'd picked an actual manager (you know someone who doesn't burn up the bullpen on meaningless games, enforce arbitrary pitch counts for starters, makes sure his coaches and trainers are conditioning the players properly so they don't send everyone to the DL over the course of the season, how to play small ball...you know, the little stuff) :sigh: And now for the annual tradition of evaluating the Blue Jays prospects for the young baseball season. I'm a little late with the post. My apologies for my tardiness... Toronto Columnist Writes Annual 'Blue Jays Have A Chance' Article ETA: my prediction for the season: 72-90 (5th...if we're lucky)

  39. It troubles me when rush fans even ask this question. COS is a seminal masterpiece, but for a number of albums also of superlative standard id even say was the guys' finest, but just has to fit in bracket of 'one of their best'. Although obviously an intense and powerful sound at times is also my goto album when i need something relaxing from the band is so well balanced and put together. Odd as i've read interviews in which ged & Al dont seem too enamoured with it, making it seem a slightly goofy project even. Awesome rush.

  40. CoS was my first Rush STUDIO album..(I had it on 8-track!) (ATWAS was my first Rush ALBUM) But CoS to me is MUCH better than 2112, I think there's more intense music (and it's recorded better IMHO) and the only sleeper was ITIGB..whereas Lessons and Tears are pretty much sleepers from my pespective.

  41. There was no hour long play. The Paradise theater to our was a regular rock show that opened and closed with the opening and closing of the album. The Kilroy Was Here tour opened with a 15 minute movie and then was about 7/8 concert and 1/8 stage play. Dennis was not kicked out then, they went their separate ways in 1984, had a reunion without Tommy Shaw in 1991 and one with him in 1995-1997. They did two big tours in 96 and 97. In 1999 they were working on an album and Dennis got sick and could not commit to a tour. Tommy didn't want to finish the album if they were not going to tour. Dennis asked for them to wait a few months to recover but they hired Gowan and went on tour without him. Dennis sued and they countersued and agreed that they could use the name Styx if he could tour as 'the voice of Styx'. Tommy wrote some great songs but about 3/4 of what I like most is Dennis' writing. I can live with Babe and Mr Roboto (he wrote a couple of worse songs). But the good outweighed the bad. I created 2 CDs of Styx songs for the car from my old vinyl and they are 3/4 Dennis 1/4 Tommy.Tommy.
