  3. This is from a recent gig. You can probably tell that it was bloody hot on stage, because I'm completely soaked. http://i934.photobucket.com/albums/ad190/TDear_1984/TobiasAshesGig_zpsef4558ac.jpg

  5. So, after a while of this being out there... what are your thoughts? Do you feel more connected? Less connected? So fed up you are becoming a hermit? I was on Facebook, and things were ok. Seemed the more time I spent on there seeing what old HS/College friends were up to, the more disconnected with the real people in my life I felt. I haven't been on FB in quite awhile and I really don't miss one thing about it. The other night I went out with a friend, lives 3 doors down from me, and we had a couple drinks. We were talking about another neighbor who is in an amazing Led Zep tribute band. I said that we have to go see them when they do another show (they only do 2-3 a year) and he said that they just played last weekend. He said "I sent you a link on FB..." This guy is my neighbor.... we used to hang out all the time. We used to call each other to get together or send text messages. Now - FB. Seems to me it's doing the opposite of what the desired results are.... social media is making people more antisocial. And one more thing - I could give a shit what some dingleberry in California is thinking about the sitcom I am watching. Stop posting live twitter reactions to repeats of television shows!

  9. I got home a few hours ago. Thanks to all the lovely people here for the prayers and well wishes. You guys helped me more than you know lying in that hospital bed for days. Kept me thinking and laughing. Hopefully this surgery will be the ticket and after some recovery time I will be better than ever. Again, much thanks and peace and love to all of you.... :)

  10. My hot Italian sausages, store bought Bertolli sauce and angel hair pasta pales into insignificance before your meal.I will be thinking of tequila soaked shrimp and filet mignon as I pick at my dinner tonight. Sausage and pasta is good. It's not steak and shrimp but.... well, you already knew that. I find myself frequently wishing I lived in a more heavily Rush fan populated area. How fun would it be to get a gaggle of TRF people together like once a month for a huge feast? Life should be about eating, drinking and Rush.

  15. The Yukon Blade Grinder Europe The Quest for Captain LeComte Epilogue In the words of the immortal John Entwistle: what a f***ing anticlimax, dear readers. Dust seemed to float aimlessly in the void, never touching soil, while Captain LeComte, or super-actor Ethan Hawke if you prefer, lowered his gun with a look on his face that would freeze molten lava. The lifeless body of the Black Dwarf, Holierthanthouy, former member of the Pope SS, the Vatican secret science team, fell down like a potato sack. Almost out of nowhere, the other dwarves of the Pope SS and Francis "Big Buy" himself appeared on the Unter den Linden and gently carried away their lost brother. Francis and Hawke exchanged a long stare, and I swear it was Hawke that blinked. Without a word, they carried away the body. His theme song by Candlemass played in the air. I swear I saw Francis headbang. "That was totally uncalled for" I said to Captain LeComte. "Not your call. Never your call" he replied. "You know me?". "Course I do". "How?". "Telepathic forum, remember?" said Hawke pointing a finger to his head. "I know all about you, imbrattacarte. How you harassed my men and finally brought death to my friend John Toad". "Actually it was the Black Dwarf who...". "Yeah, but he followed you. So it's your fault in my book. I'd have your hide for that, but then I'm sure the Vatican would bring you back again. Julie (Delpy, NDR) said she would stop you. I never thought she would go all the way through. That chick's crazier than I thought! But then she's French". "So what now?". "Nothing, now! We go our own way. I suggest you find a better field of expertise. Like tour guides or something". "And what about Goober?!". "Goober? He gave the nose of one of my men to drugged strippers! His ganja-stained butt belongs to me!". "But what about Major Rob Ford..." "He did nothing up until now because of the Sochi Olympics. He wanted all the media attention to himself. Attention whore that he is..." "Well, like Goober!". "Shut the f*ck up. Now, if Ucraina doesn't go to hell, he'll make his move". "But..." And just like that, he walked away. Set security jumped on us. We ended up on the banks of the Spree. My quest was over. And what had I found? Nothing. "So this is how Substance feels all the time" I thought. Tucked in his leather jacket, Greyfriar put his arm around my shoulder and said: "Let's get a beer". Sounded like a plan. FIN

Keyboard with one hand and dilaudid pump with the other. :) Take care; you'll be back and better than ever in no time! Just don't stand too close to the microwave, now. ;)

  22. And gravy? Mmmmmm no. I don't have any gravy atm. Whenever I roast a turkey, I end up with a lot of good gravy and I freeze it but I don't have a stash any more. The meat and taters will be flying solo tonight. Although I do slather the loafed meat with a ketchup, brown sugar, dry mustard mixture which is sooooooooo good.

  23. Binks is the best Judas Priest drummer even better than Simon Phillips (the 1977 version anyway)! binks ruled, certainly better than the kiddy diddler I don't know why they ever got rid of Binks for that guy, he was a 1,2, 3, 4, plodder and his drum sound was cardboard box city!

  24. I used to think about such things in school often. My Spanish teacher in high school in particular..... :) As a female, I can't think of a teacher I actually had in HS that I would have bumped uglies with. But, I have imagined an English teacher who looked a lot like Geddy Lee... Mmmm funny I've imagined a History teacher that looks a lot like Mr. Lee.

  28. Hey everyone, I had a thought. Everyone on here talks about long epics for music, but I am really curious, what is the shortest song you have (on Physical Media, ITunes, iPod, etc.), is it BU2B2, or something shorter, and can you beat me. My Shortest song is Fingertips: Whose Knocking On The Wall? by They Might Be Giants clocking in at 4 seconds.

  41. Yep Yeah, they did great stuff up until they ate it with "Kilroy". That whole album just... wow. Painful. Like, this thing painful. --> the pre Tommy Shaw album "Equinox" kicks ass over anything that came afterward. Definitely worth checking out. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/23/Styx_-_Equinox.jpg

  42. Listen to The Grand Illusion. I don't see how anyone would not enjoy that album front to back. Pieces Of Eight is good too. Its not Rush or Yes in its complexity but its excellent rock and fun to listen to music in my humble opinion..... :) Will do. :) I would also recommend 1975's Equinox and 1976's Crystal Ball. They were 2 albums that came out before the band was very popular, but were still very good. After Pieces of Eight, they had two very successful albums as well - 1979's Cornerstone and 1981's Paradise Theatre. Both were HUGE sellers, and for awhile, Styx was at the top of the world. Those two albums, though, were more "pop" and less "rock" and alienated a lot of hard core fans - and also some of the band members. Then, Kilroy was Here came out in 1983 along with the single "Mr.Roboto". Oy. I still like them, but they're nowhere close to Rush in my book. Clem

  43. Here is my introduction for this list, which I originally composed in response to a thread on another forum titled "12 Books That Changed Your Life." I understand that you cannot relate to the concept of music being life-changing, and that's fair enough. I hope this helps explain why others feel differently.

  44. I'm travelling with my aunt. She's only a few years older than me and the one who gave me her 2112 8-track and stereo (major score!) when I was in junior high. It's only right she goes to Toronto with me. We're in the process of figuring out exactly when to go. You never know... you might be on the same flight with us!

The Necromancer I love this song more and more than ever 6;Cygnus X I Book II - Hemispheres No need to say anything , do I ? 5. Madrigal . When the dragons grow to mighty ... Hard to pick a song off my ultimate Fav Rush album and I could have gone with all the tracks . But this is again a perfect song . 4. Xanadu . Well maybe 2 songs 3. In The End . Always gives me the same feel as Something For Nothing . 2. La Villa Strangiato Perfect again . Rush at their peak 1. 2112 , Well it`s 2112 , and thank god it did enough to keep Rush recording albums after the brilliant underated Caress Of Steel was almost the death of the band . Just think going into a Tractor part shop and seeing Mr Peart behind the desk with his head in a book . Hard to pick 10 as for me rush`s finest decade .

  48. As a big fan of malapropisms, Archie was always one of my favourites: "A witness shall not bear falsies against thy neighbor." "Last will and tentacle…" "A woman doctor is only good for women’s problems…like your groinocology." "A menstrual show." "the Women’s Lubrication Movement." "That's the kind of luck poor Mr. Lincoln had the night he went to the movies....as he sat in John Wilkes' booth." "It's a proven fact that capital punishment is a well-known detergent to crime." "They just wanna get rid of us old guys over 50 that's all, and put us out to pasture. Well I ain't ready to be pasteurized!" "I ain't got no respect for no religion where the head guy claims he can't make no mistakes. Like he's, waddya call, inflammable." "I've gotta consecrate myself on this newspaper." "two sheeps that pass in the night" "They're gonna keep the ashes around the house in one of them silver urinals" "I just don't want you to do nothing on the sperm of the moment." "The sexual act was never constipated."
