A few months ago, I told my boss how we're gonna do things. He didn't like it at first (just to be right kinda thing) but he gave in. I did things MY way. Now, a few months later, he wrote me a fat check for all the money I saved him (the company) in that time. I was just sooo weird that his tight ass did that. whatever.........3 points

I agree with you. I don't get the Sheridan hating. I loved his character. Imo, Bablyon 5 is the best sci fi series ever made. It starts off slow and not so great in the first season, but then really picks up from there.3 points

I like the music, but he sang the wrong words! :D I like the kimono idea! But I find the whole impersonation thing quite unsettling; if a band is musically proficient enough to play Rush songs, surely it would be better for them to write their own stuff and play that? Maybe cover some Rush, but do it in their own style? I find watching people dressing up as Geddy Lee a bit disturbing- it's like watching an Elvis impersonator. Am I the only one who feels that way? Obviously I disagree. To address your first question... I'm not going to "make it" in the music business. My parents squashed that dream a long time ago. Like almost everyone here, I love Rush. The music reaches me on a deep level. The musicianship, the subtleties that no one who doesn't play an instrument will ever understand. My guitar player and I were practicing with our drummer last night. After the drummer left (he always leaves first) we sat around and played quietly a little. We did acoustic versions of Red Barchetta, Hemispheres prelude, Closer To The Heart, Xanadu... unbelievable. It was the first time we ever did it (just for kicks) and the first time I ever heard the guitar and bass played so cleanly so all of the notes rang true... it was gorgeous! Hard to imagine Hemispheres done acoustic. If you have the means I suggest it. Beauty incarnate. OK, that was a long explanation. Basically I love playing Rush more than anything else and my own material. I play and sing well. I am not a composer... well a good one anyway. I don't "dress up" like Geddy exactly. I wear similar shirts and shoes. Would I do the Kimono thing at some point? Absolutely! I think people who are paying to see us would appreciate that and enjoy it. It's all about having a good time. Just my thoughts.2 points

That’s it… I’ve settled it. The last show will be at my place in Kaministiquia, Ontario. I have 160 acres, so there’s lots of room… I’ll build a big ass stage… with a roof in case it rains. I do live off the grid though, so I’ll be bringing in a huge diesel generator. Oh, and you’re all invited… In case the boys don’t show up, I’ll have 12 strippers standing by… just in case.2 points

Yeah, that "solo" is a bad idea. I disagree. I think the solo fits in perfectly with the theme of the song. An electrical current is what I hear...very appropriate. Love the song. Gets cranked every time it comes on.2 points

Whenever that very last show is played (my guess is fairly soon, within two – three years) I say they should go out with guns a’blazin’… Toronto IS the best city for the show, and the Rogers Centre (where the Blue Jays play baseball) should be the venue. The place holds about 60,000 and yes, I know that Rush wouldn’t normally play there. They’d normally play the ACC (hockey arena, 14,000) or the Molson Amphitheatre (outdoor venue, 16,000.) But, I think that since it would be the very last show, people would fly in from all over the planet and they’d fill that place with ease. Probably need 2 or 3 shows. And, a concert video would be a no-brainer. So, whenever the boys finally decide to pack it in, I think they owe to their hometown go out where they first came in…1 point

If you go to the YouTube, you’ll find some great vintage Max footage… there’s one from Barrie, Ontario, from about 1980 – 81. But, I still say, there was NOTHING like Max live. I might dare say even better than Rush. Not a fair comparison, because they are two different bands. But, holy shit – Kim Mitchell was something to see on the stage. He was about 6’3” and he weighed about 50 pounds or so… ribs sticking out… but what a guitar player! I remember listening to a radio interview back in probably ’79 and it was either Frank Zappa or Alan Holdsworth who said that Kim was one of the best in the world.1 point

I started season 3 today. I'm starting to like Sheridan more and more. He's not an awkwardly obvious replacement for Sinclair any more. Looks like the actor is finally comfortable with the role and the script isn't forcing him to be Sinclair any more. This is great.1 point

The trolls are at it again, are they? Someone remind them that Shatner and Nimoy aren't exactly the Righteous Brothers. I remember you. You were that redshirt in episode 2, season 2: Hugh Lost That Lovin Feelin Well technically, we females are referred to as, "redskirts". I had to have my alien dentata checked in McCoy's office in a scene that was later cut out. Deforest Kelley was never the same after that one. Please tell me dentata is what I think it or they is or are?..... :codger: Edit:1 point

His lowest note, as far as I remember, is D almost an octave below middle C. The highest I'm sure of is the D two octaves above that. That range is approximately alto down to high tenor, so yes, it's approximately what a countertenor can comfortably reach, though they tend to grumble about singing in their lower range. I think there are probably higher notes in some of the first ten albums but I don't personally like his voice that high. When he sings lower and slower he has a wonderful tenor voice (e.g. Available Light, The Pass, Red Tide, The Garden).1 point

How come, "me" wasn't an option? HAHAha... hahaheh...ug I went with the majority on this one and chose, "Their own reality show." I think Alex would be the most entertaining of the three.1 point

So I broke out Snakes and Arrows for the first time in quite a while. The album, as a whole, left me with the same impression I had when I last listened to it. Meh. Somewhat uninspired and nowhere near up to Rush standards. Light Rock. But Far Cry is truly one of Rush's greatest. It's one of those songs that comes along every so often that just works on so many levels. I remember from the documentary it was written in one "very good day". That backs up what I have always felt about the band....that they are so much better when they keep it simple and spontaneous....just an opinion. Anyway, Far Cry is outstanding. That's where I' m going with this.1 point

That is an absolutely adorable picture of him! I just have to share the phone wallpaper I made for myself. It's not well made, mind you, but it makes me giggly every time I see it. I have such a soft spot for Neil's smile http://i.imgur.com/Kzpd89b.jpg Makes me all giggly, too! There's something about Neil that does things to me! I know just what you mean! I swear whenever I see him half of me is giggly like a silly pre-teen girl and the other half is too busy drooling to do much thinking above the gutter ;) I love your pictures!!! I too know what you mean! My first crush was Alex when I was a teenager. Then as I have gotten older I have come to appreciate Geddy's awesomeness. However, something about The Professor just makes me get like jelly. I'm sure it is just his mind....right!   His mind certainly doesn't hurt ;) True! I could stay up all night with him....and discuss Ayn Rand... among other things. Oh yeah, I'd love to stay up all night.... "talking" with Neil! ;) I really do love listening to him talk though, and watching him talk! He's so adorably expressive, I love it. But he still lulls me to sleep. I am destined never to hear the end of the Clockwork Angels audio book! I have nice Neil-induced dreams, though!1 point

My son with autism has been stranded at his school since yesterday. His teacher tried to get him home but the bus couldn't make it and had to bring him back to school - a huge meltdown ensued and she had already started home but came back to the school and spent the night there with him. Kids all over central Alabama spent the night at school. I tried to get home about 30 minutes after it started to snow, spent 3 plus hours freezing in my car, then was forced to come back to work. I "slept" on the floor of an office and have no idea when I can get home to my children or if Stephen can even get home today. There are tons of employees here in the same boat. It has been a nightmare. Northern folks may think we are wimps but we just aren't prepared for this stuff in the Deep South. No, we up north who know better know the freaky weather you guys can have down there, but it sounds like this kind of ice storm is a rarity. How far away is the nearest help as far as sand trucks or other road equipment? Hard to believe your roads aren't being taken care of at this point. Keep us posted on your son's status. His teacher going back to be with him is a godsend.1 point
