  1. Pretty much everything in Cut to the Chase is awesome. Especially the guitar solo, which is so awesome that you couldn't fit any more awe into it :haz:

  2. I think what you guys meant to say was that Vapor Trails was "THE shit". When I first listened to the album, I didn't hear any crappy sound to it, all I heard was beauty. It may not be their best sounding album, but the songs overall are great. VT isn't shit, it's quite the opposite, in my opinion at least.

  8. Great news...and November 19th is the day before our wedding anniversary. My wife will understand if I just buy something for myself, right? ;) (All right, I'm just funnin'...I'll get her a copy of it, too). :P

  9. So many people hate this album because of how it sounds. Many of us love it because of the songs but its important to consider how hard it was for them getting back after Neil's tragedies. And when I hear people complain about it having no guitar solos, I remember how Alex stated that he subsonciously felt uncomfortable putting himself out there and drawing attention to himself in a show-offy way with soloing out of respect for Neil. Remix is out now but I'm also keeping my original copy! Without Vapor Trails there would be no Clockwork Angels! Here's a video I just came across.. Notice how Alex listened to it on the beach with a Walkman and wasn't even listening for sound quality anyway! Just to the songs.. No wonder the shitty sound got by them. Funny that's how I listen to the album now BECAUSE of the shitty sound!

  10. No, you're not the only one Baby! :) Vapor Trails rocks, it was just the production that sucked. The Remix should be great! /Nowyoucanendthethread

  12. This was, honestly, the hardest choice I've had to make in the caption thread. There were six captions that I thought were hilarious but in the end, I chose GOAR's as it did have me chuckling quite a bit. Good job you guys! I am impressed by your wit.

  15. The less tools in your belt, the more value any given one holds. Um, sure, you enjoy that philosophy. For what it's worth, however, you have shown me the error of my ways, and I shall endeavor to refrain from sarcasm from this point forward. I haven't argued the merits of the lyrics, which is pointless anyway. I've only argued that they are not dated. if you say so, net boy. It sure has been great having this virtual conversation with you out here in pixellated space, sending you out my virtual impulses via my modem. Thank God we have this great usenet group here - I feel so set free. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go organize my VHS tapes and floppy discs.

  17. Okay, now you guys (not including gals this time) will probably laugh at me, but I have thought about doing yoga many times. I have problems with my muscles on the back on knees being a little too short and this makes me not that very flexible. But then I thought about standing in spandex in a room full of women. I'm not that confident in myself :laughing yellow guy:

  21. YaYa, I love doing this pose. It does calm you down. I need to do Yoga as I've told you before. I really do the sun salutation every morning. Although, we both know it doesn't have to be the morning. Yoga sure helps anxiety and lot's of things we need.... I wish I could go to class with you. Like you, I do need to go to class. It's just more soothing, etc., you know what I mean. Miss ya! xoxo btw...looking as beautiful as ever! DAYLIN!!! Ya, I think your toes and my daughters toes are very much alike. My daughter can make a fist with hers. I think long toes are pretty. :) Haha! Yes my "finger toes" ... I'm actually able to abduct my toes which is pretty rare. I'm a natural climber, can pick things up with my feet and have amazing balance on tip toes. :)

  23. My oldest (7) drew a picture for my youngest (4) that said, "I LOVE YOU!" and drew him and brother playing a game with huge smiles on their faces. Totally melted my heart. And made me temporarily forget about how they got into a fight the other day (over a game piece!) which left my youngest with a nice purple goose egg in the middle of this forehead.

  24. Some don't allow it, and others charge an extra fee. Plus they have to get all the extra equipment in, and that takes time and money. A tour is mostly all about money.

  27. What is disappointing to me is that everyone seems to be hating on T4E purely due to it's lyrical content, sure in may not be Neil's best, I find the music great, it's like counterparts, with a little more polish (which I like). T4E winds up as number 5 on my album list, with counterparts somewhere between 9 and 11. Here is my perspective 1. Animate < Test for Echo (Test for Echo is awesome in and out, Animate lasts a little too long (but the middle is awesome)) 2. Stick it Out > Driven (Bass solo aside, Stick it out has that better energy to it.) 3. Cut to the Chase = Half the World (Not big on either) 4. Nobody's Hero < The Color of Right (Not a big gap between the songs, but The Color of Right wins by a bit_ 5. Between Sun & Moon = Time and Motion (Both great for their own reasons) 6. Alien Shore < Totem (I don't know why, but Alien Shore never stuck with me like some other fans, Totem does not stick much either, but I am more inclined to sing along to it, so it wins) 7. The Speed of Love < Dog Years (I actually like dog years, it has a fun riff and verse, the speed of love is flat out boring) 8. Double Agent < Virtuality (Double Agent is another good one, but Virtuality hits me in all the right places as tied for my favorite on the album (with T4E) ...here I have to swap the 9s and 10s to get the instrumentals to line up... 9. Leave That Thing Alone > Limbo (Obvious) 10. Cold Fire > Resist (By just a smidge, Cold fire wins with it's campy country feel compared to the played straight folk style of Resist) 11. Everyday Glory > Carve Away the Stone (Big winner with the emotional everyday glory, one of Rush's best album closers. Carve away the stone never felt like a good closer.

  28. Hold Your Fire starts out great! Force Ten is awesome! Time Stand Still is such a great song and they played it so well on the Time Machine tour. It almost sounded a little more raw on that tour. Open Secrets is totally underrated and completely overlooked. The first 3 songs on that album totally delivered and felt like the great songs were just gonna keep coming. But the record took a different direction after those 3 tracks. Second Nature was very dull. But the worst song on that side of the record should not have been any worse than Prime Mover and Second Nature was just that. It made Prime Mover a worse song because the dull sound continued, but Prime Mover was a better song. Lock and Key is another very good rock song considering the era but Mission got lost in the mix and the rest of the record just is not good at all. I mean everything Rush does they do well but keep in mind the era and the direction they were going. Many of the songs on Hold Your Fire hit a dead end for the direction of Rush at that time. Keep in mind the second half of the 1980's was bad overall (although metal was still real good despite some commercial moves). Van Halen with no David Lee Roth, how depressing. Judas Priest and the Turbo album was another disappointment thanks to the commercial movement of that era and bands selling themselves out. Journey's Raised on Radio was a big disappointent. Rock and Roll was dying in the late 80's. Def Leppard Hysteria makes me wanna throw up. U2 Joshua Tree, every popular kid in high school all the sudden was a fan of U2 and Def Leppard that year. Even Iron Maiden was using synthesized sounds in their music. Ozzy was covered with sparkling outfits on stage and big puffy hair. This glamor phase took over and it was reflected in much of the music in that era. The late 80's was too dressed up with synthesizers, hair styles, glitter, glamor, fashion, and just got too colorful. The airwaves had resorted to classic rock at that point. Radio stations retreated to the 70's. There was alot of "WTF" in the second half of the 80's. I am thankful for everything Rush gives to us and would never put down any of their work. They have plenty of albums that are good begining to end that they don't have to justify not making a Moving Pictures everytime they make a new album. Every Rush album has songs that I absolutley love! So I took my 5 and a half favorites off the Hold Your Fire CD and put them in the I-Pod. For those who love those other songs, that is great! I'm not a big fan of Turn the Page, etc,. I grew up south of Pittsburgh where we have nice Autumns. Rush has had their share of records and singles released in or just around Autumn and many of their songs grew on me at that time. I especially love Rush music in the Fall. Hold Your Fire came out right at that time Fall was approaching. Signals was released 9/9/82, arguably my favorite Rush album. Since then, Autumn weather always makes me anticipate new Rush music as I have many memories of new Rush at that time. Test For Echo, Power Windows, Roll the Bones, Counterparts, all were new that time of year and even Moving Pictures went very strong into that tme of year. So Hold Your Fire coming out at that time of year has made its place in the soundtrack of my life in 1987. Although not my favorite Rush album overall, Happy belated birthday HYF. Time Stand Still stands out to me so much in that year of my life. I'm glad Rush music has always been there.

  30. And on the subject of taking pics during a show. I went to six shows this tour and at each show I quickly snapped some pics during the show. I made sure that I did that really quickly, so that it would not interfere too much with my own concert experience and that of others and I've tried not to irritate neighbours with my camera whilst doing that. Because I had seen footage of the show on YT before I went to my first show I knew from which parts I'd love to have my own digital memories next to the many other real ones in my head. That made it easy to compile a nice set of pics that I love to share with you all, but way after the shows... no way I'm gonna waste my time posting stuff on FB or texting or whatever other distracting things you can do on a mobile device during a show. That is such a waste of time IMHO. Even taking just a couple of pics draws your attention away from the songs you're hearing and seeing being performed in front of you. Luckily over the years I have gotten some experience of taking pics quickly at rockshows because I sometimes get photopasses for shows of other artists.

  31. Seriously? That's terrible! I can't believe some people are capable of being that asshole-ish. I think if it had been me, I would have fought for it. To my detriment, of course, me being a smallish girl. :/ But I would sure let out the tigers if someone tried to eff with my Rush stuff. I know the feeling... it makes you sooooo angry when you get someting from the guys and some idiot just takes it away from you. This story really takes the biscuit along with the one from another fan who had someting similar like this t-shirt story happening to him. To steal something from a fan that he or she has caught directly is sooooo low. This happened to me as well with a pick from Alex. Alex especially aimed it at me and I touched it while trying to catch it and then it bounced off my hand. Then some idiot behind me snatched it away from me. He even grinned at me with an evil smile on his face and then tucked it slowly into his pocket... grrrrr... These people are so unbelievable... :banghead:

  32. Wow, it must be hard going through life when so much pisses you off. As long as people don't block me with signs or something and don't constantly yell, I don't really care what they do, with the possible exception of smoking a lot of cigarettes. I don't expect everyone to conform to my idea of what makes an enjoyable concert. I will say that when I go to concerts by myself or with friends, I don't take too many pics. But my wife likes to take a lot of pics and record my favorite songs. I sometimes get annoyed as is rather just watch the concert, but I'm really happy I have those pics after the concert. And I will check my phone several times during a show to check the set list so I know if, for example, Stick it Out or Territories is coming up and I can go get a beer or smoke a bowl.

  36. you've gotta understand though, while I'm with you on most of that, most people who go to concerts aren't hardcore fans like we are. the majority of people at a rush concert are casual fans, and the majority of concert-goers in general (especially with the bigger, more established arena groups) are people who might've been into the music moreso at one point in their lives but are really just looking for something to do on a friday night or whatever. they're not there to absorb the music of rush and have some transcendental moment or some shit, they're there to get out of the house for a few hours and get a few snapshots, have a few brews, chat with their buddies, etc. and while it might slightly annoy me that there are people buying rush tickets who don't like or haven't heard anything after the early 80s and are really just there to kill time, hear the hits, and eat hot dogs, but there's nothing we can do about it. and I guess I can understand the mentality of some of these people. I don't like anything KISS or aerosmith have put out since the 70s, but if I lived 30 minutes away from a concert they were doing, I'd probably go, and since their music doesn't mean as much to me as rush or iron maiden or yes or a band like that, I'd probably get more f*cked up before the show and indulge in some 9 dollar nachos or something, because I wouldn't care as much about what was going on in front of me.

  38. Glad you took the time to see it. Another short documentary that's fascinating is "Fata Morgana". Herzog, for some reason was driven to make a film about mirages. Once again great music but zero dialogue. The DVD has a directors commentary by Werner that explains his vision. Thanks man. If I find the time I'll look it up this weekend. Herzog is such a possessed director, I have no chance not to love this guy.

  41. I've lost 21 lbs since July 29th when I started my job at Home Depot. So, I'm working about 70 hours a week and barely have time to munch a light snack a few times a day. I do a crap ton of walking, lifting, bending, wiggling, pacing and dancing when I'm waiting for customers. People at the store love to walk by me because I will get campy and goof off or dance to some random, invisible song. I'm now 34 pounds away from how much I weighed when E and I got together. I weighed a lot, but I'm also muscular and stacked. I looked tiny at that weight. I'm so excited!
