The name "The Professor" has it's connections to RUSH, of course, but the name was confirmed the first night we got him .. He was one of five babies that had been left at the doorstep of a shelter at about 6 weeks old ..... The first night we had him, I could imagine how traumatic it was for him - being taken from his siblings, and suddenly put in these new surroundings ..

So I was talking to ( actually, talking WITH ) him, and he kept direct eye contact with me the entire time - even tilting his head every now and then as if he were translating everything I was saying :D

I said "You are as smart as a professor !"

At 6 weeks, he was still a little wobbly when walking - he wasn't the long legged bullet he is now lol  ... Anyways, that first week, I was in my basement doing some renovation - I had all the doors open, and The Professor was with me - no threat to take off because he was still so small ... I was tearing some old shelving down and dragging the wood and debris outside into a pile - as I was coming back inside, The Professor had a section of wood - probably about 3 feet long - in his mouth and he is dragging it to the door .. I guess he had seen what I was doing and wanted to help !!

:D

I used to have a dog that looked like this, I'll show you to her. In this picture she's about 12 years old unlike the puppy in that shot:
