  1. It's not a black and white topic, but I'd say it's generally okay. I'm sure I'm from a different generation than most users, though, so my opinion is likely more lax.
  2. That's quite an impressive track record.
  3. I should've gotten a physical copy, but I couldn't force myself to wait! I love this album more than words can express. Lapse and Earthrise are so inexplicably good. Not even to mention the Architect.... and the Leprous lead singer's vocals near the end! Ugh, I can't contain myself.
  4. We had to watch this film in an English class. We had to watch a film with deep emotions and then rewrite key scenes in as much detail and emotion as possible. Sounds like it would ruin the impact. Similar to the effect of liking books a lot less when you have to read them as an assignment than if you read them on your own volition.
  5. "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" I hate being young and not up to date in media because I've lived my whole life without knowing gems like this. It was brilliant and almost brought me to tears. Why it took me so long to find, I'll never know.

This album is a grandfather of the genre! Other King Crimson has been mentioned, but this one is the most important, in my opinion.
  7. Animals would've been my next pick. P.S. jfelcher lol "My name, it means nothing. My fortune is less."
  8. Who let you in here??? Only the Bourgeoisie are allowed to vote. You ought to hire a new bouncer. I didn't understand this was an exclusive club.

Script For A Jester's Tear - Marillion (Turbine Freight) 32) Genesis- Selling England By the Pound (Blue J) 33) De-Loused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta (jefeltner11) Sorry, but this album is great. It hits me hard from the beginning to the end. Too bad about half this band's albums suck, because this is a work of art.
  10. If I was alive and listening to music in 1996, there is no way in hell I would have stuck around for any more Rush albums, so that option gets my vote. Luckily for me, I came in a little after Clockwork Angels, so the disappointment didn't last all that long.
  11. Any and all sentiment aside, I'd obviously buy anything the boys put out; cheap rehash or not. Can I say this is something I would ever explicitly ask for? No. Is it something I would buy anyway and probably enjoy? Yes. The real disappointment wouldn't be in the quality of the new version, but in where that time could have been spent more creatively in giving us a new studio album.
  12. Rush - Nope Fly By Night - Beneath, Between, and Behind Caress of Steel - The Necromancer 2112 - Lessons AFTK - AFTK Hemispheres - Aren't they all well received? PeW - Different Strings Moving Pictures - Vital Signs Signals - Countdown P/G - All of them except Red Lenses Power Windows - Mystic Rhythms Hold Your Fire - Prime Mover Presto - Anagram Roll the Bones - Ghost of a Chance Test for Echo - Ehhhhhh...... Totem? Snakes and Arrows - Spindrift Clockwork Angels - Seven Cities of Gold
  13. I don't know... Sometimes I'm highly engaged and interested in all the happenings in here and read through pages upon pages of other people discussing stuff, adding my own little contributions here and there... but other times I completely forget about this place. I feel like if I was a little more active, I'd probably get more out of this community. I have had an overall positive experience for the most part, but no significant sentimentality at this point. That may change. You guys all seem great.
  14. Funny, when I first discovered the band I was so excited that I was practically singing their praises from the rooftops..... and people didn't like that. People our age don't often care about music such as theirs, at least in my experience. It's taken me some two years to stop being teased daily about my absurd music obsessions and to convince people that I don't only listen to Rush. My advice is to only share their music when someone seems really receptive. Always get a feel for what their taste is first. If somebody loves trap or any of the "-core" subgenres of metal, you should probably stray away from divulging the boys' holiness to them. All that said, I think Moving Pictures is the one and only universal starting point. It sort of collects most of the things that make Rush who they are, and you won't be given a sideways glance for asking someone to listen to a 20 minute epic. Good luck, and hopefully you won't embarrass yourself as much as me.
  15. New single released just a few hours ago! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7pEXGCtnnk
