Scratch that.   i could live without hearing MP again, but not AFTK, so I deleted my vote and went with the AFTK, Hemis and :hi: .

Scratch that.

 

i could live without hearing MP again, but not AFTK, so I deleted my vote and went with the AFTK, Hemis and :hi: .

It was a tough choice between Kings and Pictures, but I sided with Xanadu

 

Not for me, but I also chose this as well (along with PoW/HYF/Presto).

 

I also think that CP/TFE/VT would probably be my #3.

Not me. I skip Tom Sawyer and YYZ due to overplay fatigue, but the balance still grabs me every time.

"Not allowed" is certainly a relative thing. I can dig your qualification and appreciate your approach. It brings to mind the thought provoking idea explored by someone on the "PerW 70s or 80s" thread wherein one side was seventies and the other eighties... but we wouldn't wanna revive that old discussion... :outtahere:

Went with COS 2112 AFTK.

Almost went with 2112 AFTK Hemispheres.

 

COS and Hemispheres are my favs, but unfortunately no consecutive 3 run contains both. A 4 run poll would be very easy for me to pick.

I made the choices consecutive because I am going with the conceptual flavor of era, but have made it a multiple choice poll because I have divergent preferences. I didn't include Feedback among the trios. Like so much else, my list here changes with the wind:

 

1) A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves

2) Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, Hold Your Fire.

3) Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures, Signals.

4) Fly By NIght, Caress Of Steel, 2112.

 

 

The fact that AFWTK ends with "Book I: The Voyage" and then "Hemispheres" opens with "Book II" is absolutely EPIC. The apex of RUSH. Throw in either "2112" first or go for "PW" after. Doesn't matter.

The early choices suffer from the presence of CoS. Pity because a FBN, 2112, AFTK run would be very, very hard to vote against.

 

Once CoS drops off things get better but some of the choices are hurt by the presence of Hemispheres (not one of my favorites - don't hate, but don't love the title track that much and that drags the album down for me).

 

Once Hemispheres drops off things get hard since its one really great trio after another. At least until RTB shows up on the list. Not a real favorite. Then things get worse with VT. The choices with VT included don't warrant consideration - as good as some of the other albums with it may be.

 

So what did I go with? Went with Power Windows, HYF, Presto.

 

Second choice would be Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows, HYF.

 

Third would be MP, Signals, Grace Under Pressure.

 

Fourth would be Signals, Grace Under Pressure, Power Windows
