Mr. Not
Alternative Rock (though quite different from one another) Weezer is part pop rock; Morrissey reminds me of The Cure.
Rutlefan
How could I have forgotten Beck?!Odelay one of the best albums of the decade.Easily in my top 5, likely #2 Odelay was my "obsession" album in '97; I think it was about all I listened to that summer. Had heard "Where It's At" when it had come out in '96 of course, and liked it well-enough, but it wasn't until I heard "The New Pollution" that I went out and got the the album (like Come as You Are and Nevermind). Launched me on a dedicated Beck phase that lasted a good year and a half. Still like him of course.

Boots
I don't care what everyone else here thinks. I like Matchbox Twenty and 3 Doors Down. They're 2 really tight consistent bands. I would love it if they toured together.
invisible airwave
Loved Ben Folds Five before Brick was a big hit. This song got me into them in my sophomore year of high school.
invisible airwave
SKA A-ha cover: Come On Eileen: Loved Ferris in high school. They were 2nd tier No Doubt in that they both had female singers and both were in Orange County. They even played at the college I went to, Mt San Antonio (Mt SAC for short), a few year later. Texas King
This hard rock band is very very underrated when it comes to the 90's rock (I doubt they were popular and well-known anywhere outside the UK):
