The Hi InFidelity tour was indeed awesome.

I refuse to vote. This type of crap made listening to music in the late 80s miserable. Plus, they all got beaten badly when Duran Duran released Ordinary World. I know it was released in 93 but still...

Whitesnake - Is This Love
Def Leppard - Love Bites

These two are my top picks oddly enough. goodpost.gif

Bad English - When I See You Smile

Heart - Alone

I know it's kind of cheating since it came out in 91, but since someone else mentioned it, that Steelheart song. As far as early 90s go, Love Of A Liftime's another good one.

I forgot about Heart. I will add What About Love, These Dreams and Stranded to the list as well. Stranded came out in like '90 or '91 I think, but it fits the theme of the thread.

Had a girlfriend circa 87/88 that had a little sister that wouldn't shut the hell up about Bon Jovi. Used to tell her much they sucked just to watch her get all worked up.

The way I see it, there's fun crap and hateful crap. These super-pop-ballads fall in my "fun" side. While, not intentionally, Durans will always fall in my "f****ing hate their guts" category. trink39.gif

Definitely These Dreams belongs to this list!!

Love their 80s haircuts!!

IIRC, the bass player in this album and videos was Mark Andes, of the grrrrreat cal-psych-rock band Spirit (Randy California).

Scorpions - Still Loving You

Right, this is another classic!!

One of my favorite Scorps songs. Hate the remixed version though, the strings are way overblown.

The first song that came to mind was Drive by The Cars.

I don't consider that sugary in the least. It has a cool vibe to it.

Well, sure.

The Cars were as cool as the other side of the pillow.

Starship - "Sara". I do like that one, but "Knee Deep In the Hoopla" album abruptly ended my fandom for this band. Paul Kantner had the right idea by ditching the band.

They were a good band up until that one I thought. They had a mix of punk rock and hard rock that pretty unique for them.

MTV played that one so much, I got so sick of it.

This is an tremendous poll!!!

I may be in the minority here but I liked, and still like, a lot of the songs mentioned in the poll and the thread. In fact, I like them a lot!! (I am certain a lot of folks 062802puke_prv.gif when they read that!!)

IMO we are talking about some of the better non-Rush songs from the best era of rock music. Whitesnake, White Lion, Heart, Bad English, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Poison, Reo, Cinderella, Skid Row's "I Remember You", Def Leopard, The Scorps, Nightranger, Dam Yankees, - what a great list!!! Some of the best songs and groups of all time!!! What's not to love here? Well, ok, choices 1 and 2 from the poll I don't have any use for, but the rest? biggrin.gif

By the way, what about Journey?? Shocked they have not been mentioned yet.

Of the songs listed in the poll I will go with #5, Cant Fight this Feeling by Reo Speedwagon. It just, by a hair, beats out #4, Every Rose has a Thorn by Poison, #6, Don't Know what you got till its Gone by Cinderella and # 8, Wanted Dead or Alive. If Skid Row's "I Remember You" had been in the poll I would have gone with it.

Great poll!!!

Because I think Journey has a lot of good, strong material. Sure, they have some super-sugary ballads here and there but I would never put them in the same category as White Snake, Cinderella, Poison, Bon Jovi or some of that other shit. Journey's MOST sugary crap reminds me of REO's crap that was usually played on the radio or MTV. But I can still enjoy some Journey albums but I most definitely can't with anything of REO's.

Oh, Cain and Schon in Journey = good. Cain and Schon in Bad English = bad.
