  1. KISS Madison Square Garden, NYC December 16, 1985 opener - Black and Blue Setlist: Detroit Rock City Fits Like a Glove Cold Gin Paul Stanley guitar solo Uh! All Night Eric Carr drum solo War Machine I Still Love You Under the Gun Bruce Kulick guitar solo Tears Are Falling Gene Simmons bass solo I Love It Loud Love Gun Rock and Roll All Nite Encore: Heaven's on Fire Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who) Lick It Up
  2. I can't believe it took me 4 pages to find this one mentioned! This is my all-time favorite live album. It has been ever since I got it from the Columbia House tape club back when it came out. It sounds great. The songs are great. And, the band plays great. The version of Miami 2017 at the beginning of the album is phenomenal. I'm sure I must have posted this somewhere. I listen to this all the time, and agree that it is just about perfect. The range of material is great, and the live versions far outperform each studio track. Live Captain Jack is amazing! Yes.! But, I like the studio Ballad of Billy The Kid a hair more than the live version, but that's the one exception from me. Live Captain Jack is so good that it actually killed the studio version - I can't listen to it anymore. I actually prefer the SitA version of Billy The Kid better mainly because of the energy of Liberty's drumming. That can pretty much be said for the entire album.
  3. I love Page's playing. But, especially towards the end, he could definitely be sloppy. "Hot Dog" played live is a perfect example. Listening to the guitar solo of that song, which definitely doesn't sound easy to begin with, can sound really bad depending on which night's bootleg you're listening to. I'd still kill to be able to say I saw them back in the day. I used to get pissed when I'd hear that Plant didn't want to get back together with the boys. But, the more you think about it, he simply wouldn't be able to pull it off anymore. It's probably better this way. There's nothing worse than seeing an aging rock band trying to recapture what once was and failing miserably.

KISS Alive! is up there, too (regardless of what was touched up or not). I got it at a garage sale back in '80-81 when I was 7 or 8 years old for $2.50. It even still had the booklet. I listened to this on my turntable for hours!

So, I was wondering if there is anyone out there watching this show. I feel they're doing a really good jub of making an un-super hero super hero show that someone who doesn't read comic books can enjoy. My wife doesn't do comic books and she loves the show. I suppose seeing Amwell's abs every show helps in that department. But, while it has some Smallville-type elements to attract the younger crowd, the grittiness of is should appeal to fans of super hero movies like Nolan's Batman flicks. For me, as a comics fan, I also love the little DC nuggets they throw in on a fairly regular basis. It adds another fun element to the show. Last night, I was able to catch up with the first 3 episodes of this second season. Good stuff! Anyone else?
  6. It's only 4-5 episodes into the season! It takes a while to develop things - new character dynamics, new "threat", etc. If I stuck out Season 2, I'm certainly sticking with this season. I've actually been pretty happy with it so far. Not a whole lot of action yet. But, we all know that'll change at some point, right?!?
  7. Definitely not my favorite season so far. But, they haven't really disappointed yet. I'll stick around and wait for the fireworks to go off. The show has been good for a couple mind-blowing events each season. And, since there hasn't really been one yet, I'm not going anywhere.
  8. Over the weekend, we watched Return Of The Jedi on Blu-Ray with our 6-year-old daughter. Next up are the weak-ass prequels. Meesa no likey.
  9. Cher - Believe - This song is my first encounter with the evil auto-tune. This God-awful song would be played through the building speaker system at work a minimum of 3 times a day. And, it went on for well over two years straight, which is just another reason why Top 40 radio sucks. Warren Zevon - Werewolves in London - Ah OOOOO! Need I say more?!? Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Lights -or- I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) - Curse you, Jim Steinman!! Any Jimmy Buffet. Although, if a gun was put to my head, I'd say "Margaritaville". I heard his awful music at every party I was at in college (except those threw at our place). The Doors. Once again, gun to my head, "Light My Fire". I can't stand their cheesy organ sound. And, I've always thought Jim Morrison to be way overrated as a lyricist. The dude wasn't a spiritual genius. He was always high.
  10. Queen - We Will Rock You/ We Are The Champions Each of these songs cannot be played without the other. Otherwise, it's just weird. Much like the afore-mentioned Heartbreaker/ Living Loving Maid mix. I once heard Heartbreaker on the radio played by itself. It just felt incomplete.
  11. Personally, I've avoided listening to the single or seeking out any music from the new album. Just a little less than 3 weeks left. Then, all will be revealed. I can't wait for the new album. Hopefully the "Evening with" format from the upcoming European shows will spill over to the US tour. It'd be nice to have 3 hours of DT in concert again and not have to sit through a Trivium or whoever else the label is trying to push on a new audience. Was 'Train Of Thought' the last time they used that format?
  12. Yeah. Pretty cool stuff. Heard Steve Vai mention them on Eddie Trunk's radio show last year when he asked if there was anyone new he liked. Figured I'd check them out.
  13. Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic Alice In Chains - Facelift The Black Crowes - Shake Your Money Maker Boston - Boston Def Leppard - Pyromania Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms Dream Theater - Images and Words Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast Billy Joel - Songs In The Attic (favorite live album) KISS - Dressed To Kill (first piece of music (VINYL!) ever owned) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti Living Colour - Vivid Megadeth - Rust In Peace Metallica - Master Of Puppets Pantera - Vulgar Display Of Power Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime Rush - Permanent Waves Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger Van Halen - 5150
  14. 1st Concert - KI$$ at Madison Square Garden in December 1985... $12.50. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. Some of the past few shows I've been to (Rush, Roger Waters, The Big 4) have averaged about $85-90 apiece. And, those haven't even been super spectacular seats. At the height of my concert-going days (mid- to late-90's), I was hitting over 20 shows a year. Now, with a kid, a mortgage and ticket prices being what they are, if I go to 3-4 shows in a year, it's a lot. I've been to one so far this year (Anthrax/ Testament - free admission for me) and I don't have any other shows in sight.
  15. I will not be purchasing the new album from King of the Vest. How can you have QR without any of the musicians who played anything (other than saxophone) on the albums?!? I heard a track-by-track preview on the Classic Metal Show podcast a few weeks ago of the itunes non-remastered clips. The album sounds like cr#p! And, only one of the 10 new songs actually has a QR vibe. The others simply sound like more Tate solo stuff. Even if it didn't sound horrible, I don't know that I could, in good conscience, purchase his album. He has said for the past 10-15 years that he doesn't like metal music and dismissed the metal audience. Now, he is excited to present his "metal" album to all the fans. The dude is a total fraud! That's not even mentioning his dispicable behaviour towards his former bandmates. I will wait until June to get the real 13th album from Queensryche.
  16. Wow! He just turned 56 a few days ago. Sad news.
  17. Just curious... is anyone here a fan of Showtime's show Californication? At the end of each episode, there's usually a melancholy acoustic cover song playing. Watching last week's episode, I found myself singing the words, not really sure what the song was. So, I rewound it to listen again. Turns out, it was an acoustic cover of Maiden's "Wasted Years"! It was pretty cool.
  18. As cool as this would be for nostalgia purposes, I think this ship has sailed. The "reunion" should've happened instead of Page & Plant. At least I can say I've seen both Page (Outrider tour) and Plant (Manic Nirvana tour) live.
  19. It was the reason he left the first time. The 2nd time was due to friction with other band members, specifically King. Looks like Tom wanted the audit, too. But, Kerry can't very well kick him out of the band... No Tom = No Slayer.
  20. Wow, nobody mentioned KISS yet. I love(d) them. But, they've pretty much been doing the same live show for the last 15+ years. And, they've managed to put out one respectable album, Monster, during that same time period. Sure, they're old but their concerts don't have to be as "cookie cutter" as they are... Open with "Detroit Rock City". A few more songs. Fire breathing during "Firehouse". A few more songs. Blood spitting during "God Of Thunder". A few more songs. Paul flies into the crowd during "Love Gun". One or two more songs. "Rock And Roll All Nite". Meh! It's not the original 4 anymore. It's okay to touch the albums from the '80's and '90's again. Play "Hide Your Heart", "Young And Wasted", "Under The Gun" or, dare I say, something from Carnival Of Souls like "Master and Slave".
  21. I know that there's another thread on this subject buried about 5 pages deep. But, it fits under the King's X umbrella and thought it might be good to mention it again... "PINNICK GALES PRIDGEN will issued their self-titled debut album on February 12th, via Magna Carta. Composed of bassist/vocalist dUg Pinnick of the progressive metal band KING'S X, southpaw blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales (LAURYN HILL, solo) and ambitious ambidextrous drummer and former MARS VOLTA member, Thomas Pridgen, PGP unites three versatile artists, who demand, as much as share, the musical spotlight. On the band's debut, each member of PGP infuses the material with his own set of musical influences, transforming his individual instrument into a lead instrument. The absolutely slamming musicianship frames the recognizable melodies of these songs and catapults the music into the realms of psychedelic blues, hard rock, and progressive soul/R&B. Tracklisting: 'Collateral Damage' 'Angels And Aliens' 'For Jasmine' 'Hang On, Big Brother' 'Wishing Well' 'Hate Crime' 'Lascivious' 'Black Jeans' 'Sunshine Of Your Love' 'Been So High (The Only Place To Go Is Down)' 'Me And You' 'The Greatest Love' 'Frightening' "This record is three guys, with music in us, who said, 'Let's go for it,'" says Pinnick. "It was built upon raw energy." Produced by Mike Varney, Pinnick Gales Pridgen contains all the stinging bite and all-out sonic boom of King's X, The Mars Volta and THE ERIC GALES BAND. In addition, fans of artists as far ranging as JIMI HENDRIX, CREAM, LIVING COLOUR, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, TOOL, THE WHO, STEVIE WONDER and LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT might find something meaningful in these meaty, extended tracks." You can find a video of the song "Hang On, Big Brother" on YouTube. I checked it out yesterday. Good stuff! I'm pretty psyched for this release.
  22. Flying Colors - Flying Colors Testament - Dark Roots Of The Earth Overkill - The Electric Age Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth Rush - Clockwork Angels
