ReRushed
QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Dec 24 2011, 12:31 AM) QUOTE (rushgoober @ Dec 24 2011, 12:15 AM) I guess I'm not surprised that Zep has a decent sized lead. Rush is definitely a lot more Led Zeppelin than they are Pink Floyd, except maybe the 2112-Hemispheres era... I wonder what the outcome of this poll would have been if Zep didn't loose Bonham and continued with their ITTOD sound... If Zep's track record is any indication the "ITTOD sound" would have lasted only for that album.

Cyclonus X-1
I'm not a fan of either band, but Over the Hills and Far Away is an excellent song, and I find a number of Zep tunes fun to jam on if not listen to, so I'll vote for LZ.

Union 5-3992
I had to choose Zeppelin, they were the first band I really got into and without them I'd never have discovered rock, prog rock, or metal. I did subtract a few points since they stole a few songs, but they still win.

ozzy85
Tough. I had to break it down by % of good songs and albums. There's not too many Zep songs I outright dislike and no albums I dislike. Though Floyd had a longer career, they had entire albums I don't listen to. ... But, damn... they're Floyd. When they're on, they're on. Even some of the experimental stuff. Zep by percentage only. adace1
Easiest poll I've seen in a while. Pink Floyd all the way.

RUSHHEAD666
QUOTE (sullysue @ Dec 25 2011, 01:09 AM) Floyd. By the margin of Gilmour. Page is a Legend but the drugs and booze fukked him off! Being pissed every night and trying to play those great solos was an EPIC FAIL!! The rhythm section of that band was immaculate. Let's face it, Bonham and Jones blows Waters and Mason away!! Some of you Floyd Homers are in love with David's guitar and I must agree he is better than Page, but as an all around band, The Mighty Zeppelin blows Pink Pussy Floyd away!! JMO Too bad David wasn't the lead guitarist in Zeppelin.

goose
Really hard to compare these two bands, as they are so unalike. Love 'em both to death.
Scobie
When I think of Page, I always think of it as 2 parts: the 1969 to 1972 Jimmy, when he was the best. Then there was the 1973 to 1980 era, when injuries, tendonitis, drugs and lack of practice diminished his talent. Overall for me, it would be: Early Page > Gilmour > Later Page
Tommy Sawyer
QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Dec 25 2011, 03:15 AM) Let's face it, Bonham and Jones blows Waters and Mason away!! Maybe if you listen to The Wall and Animals, but go listen to live stuff from 1969-72, and you'll see the true power of Mason/Waters. Saucerful of Secrets live on Pompeii is immaculate! Also, look up the St. Tropez footage from 1970. Great stuff!
