Get Out (4/10) The most overrated movie I have seen in a long time. One of only ten movies to have a score of 99% or higher with over 100 reviews on RT, knowing this doesn't sway me into thinking this is anything other than far fetched hokum. Nowhere near my favorite Miyazaki flick but if you like Miyazaki you'll likely like this one. On a side note: As usual, I had the English subtitles going with the Japanese audio...and I noticed some mistranslations. My Japanese is nowhere near perfect but the mistranslations were pretty noticeable. I was watching with Mrs. B (who's Japanese and has good English) and she confirmed the mistranslations. I wonder if the same subtitle errors happen in the western DVDs/broadcasts. I've seen it happen before in other J-shows/films with either Japanese to English or vice versa but I figured Miyazaki movie storytelling language isn't too hard to translate (in the places I found them) so I was surprised by the mistakes. As it progressed, Depp seemed less and less convincing as the main character. I can't say he was bad or that he ruined the movie but I would've chosen someone else for the role. Not sure who though. It wasn't that bad...though it wasn't anything to write home about either. If it's on tv, surely it's because of the combo of real world natural disasters + the recent solar eclipse.
