Really?! It was better than I expected too but I can think of several hero films alone that I think were better (Watchmen, XMEN 2, Xmen: First Class, both Batfilms, Spidey 2, Iron Man 1, Thor, and there might even be a few more that have escaped me) Agreed....it was OK. But best movie in 10 or 15 years???? Huh? Oooh, no - sorry. Not what I meant. Definitely not one of the *best* movies of the last 10-15 years, but it's one of my *favorite* movies of the last 10-15 years. I don't see a ton of movies to begin with, and I'm sure there are better movies out there that I haven't seen. I could have explained that better. Mid-30's comic book guy for the past 20 years, I'm supposed to love it, but I just don't. Didn't like the comic and really didn't like the movie. My wife, who has read probably a dozen comics in her whole life, thought it was great (both the TPB that I've got and the movie). X-Men 2... I can see that. Same with First Class, which I thought was pretty stellar. Spidey 2 was great, Iron Man 1 is probably my #1. I did think Cap was better than Thor, which suffered somewhat from having him powerless for so long and from casting Portman, who I thought wasn't good for the role. Dark Knight was really good, but Begins was pretty much a B+ film for me and I did think Cap was better. But for "one of my favorites in the last 10-15 years"... in no order at all and only counting comics flicks: Cap Iron Man 1 X-Men 1, 2 and First Class Dark Knight Spider-Man 1 and 2 (more 1 than 2 by virtue of being the first live-action Spidey worth a damn) Sin City Red

NobodysHeroine
The Pianist, directed by Roman Polanksi and adapted from the book of the same name. I'm also reading the book. http://i1031.photobucket.com/albums/y371/Priestess-of-Syrinx/434px-The_Pianist_movie.jpg It's not as powerful and hard-hitting as Schindler's List, in my opinion, but still powerful. If you're not up on horse racing or Secretariat in particular, check out the YouTube clips of the three actual Triple Crown races before seeing the movie. You will gain a whole new appreciation for how they planned and filmed those race scenes, and how they tried to copy the actual races as closely as possible. I'm one of the rare folks that think Batman Begins (perfect) is superior to Dark Knight (great). X2=great, Iron Man 1=really good, Sin City=really good, XMen:First Class=good, etc. etc. so on, Cap=okay with goodness and greatness sprinkled here and there. ((Straying from the thread topic but it happens))...I think Kick-Ass the movie really strayed from the comic (which I thought was really entertaining) in the last 30 minutes or so AND in regards to his success with that girl. They really should've stuck with the book. Going back to the topic, I watched Full Metal Jacket (for the 5 millionth time) last night.

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE!!1 I watched 13 Assassins again. I absolutely love it, it's gotta be Miike's best film. Of course it's basically an homage to Seven Samurai, but that's not a bad thing. I know it's actually a remake of The Thirteen Assassins from 1963, but I've never seen that one. I guess it's like a remake of a remake, I dunno, just watch the shit!
