I love both of these bands, they're insane! There are many similarities between them, both late 60s era, each have a guitar god in the fold, both feature guitar histrionics AND great songs, both are blues based with many other elements, chiefly fistfuls of psychedelic rock and 60s pop, both were very short-lived with only 3 and 4 albums and so on.

But who is better?

I know my choice already, but what does anyone else think?

Very few albums approach the greatness of Are You Experienced.

I'm going with The Jimi Hendrix Experience because The Jimi Hendrix Experience has more swing, baby.

Yes, that album is amazing, so many great songs like it's a greatest hits album instead of a debut album!

That's my choice too btw, it has to be The Jimi Hendrix Experience, they just have the edge in every area and Jimi was fuckiiing cool!! 1022.gif

Cream were great though...

Jimi all the way.

Are You Experienced, Axis & Electric Ladyland trump anything Cream ever did. Those 3 albums trump almost anything anyone ever did.

It looks like a blowout for Jimi...

I thought it was an interesting comparison though...

Cream were an outstanding band, no doubt about it.

But come on, no one could compete with Jimi. 1022.gif

This.

And I love Cream.

Hendrix,without a doubt...A true guitar legend.

The guy was so far ahead of his time,

it was unreal.Clapton is great..but he ain't no Jimi.

Hendrix is still influencing rock today..41 yrs. after

his death. That's flippin' INCREDIBLE!!

Jimi wins this hands down!!!!

Are you kidding me? Eric Clapton a Legend?

Eric was a great guitar player when he was on heroin, but ever since then the man is a total blues booze bore!

I loved his guitar playing during the "Eyesight To The Blind" tune in the motion picture "Tommy." Well that's about it for me.

Do you guys really love Eric "Crapton's" solo material?

Talk about a snooze fest. It's obvious the guy went for the cash grab. Yet another incredible talented musician selling out for commercial success.

All the Cream stuff is incredible but after that Eric Clapton is a non factor.

Jimi Hendrix blows Eric away.

It still amazes me to this day that Stevie Ray Vaughan had to be in a hurry after that Blues Festival and jump on Clapton's helicopter.

The rest is history. Fate is a bitch. Death waits for no one.

We're only talking about Cream here Earl, all the other Clapton stuff forget about it. There's no point comparing Clapton's later solo stuff or any other Clapton stuff to Hendrix, we already know Jimi blew Clapton away when Eric was at his peak...

This is not just really about Clapton versus Jimi, Jack Bruce and co are involved too, and Jack Bruce wrote most of the Cream songs. It's also about the bands and their sounds and the way they played as a unit.

That being said yeah Jimi's band wins easily...

I made this poll though because Cream are the nearest of this type of band to Hendrix's, and there's a lot of similarities, it's interesting to compare them.

I totally understand Pat, I just went off because I can't stand Eric Clapton.

Bruce and Baker are great, but Mitch and Noel are better.

Jimi + Noel + Mitch > Eric + Jack + Ginger

The first three Cream albums are incredible, but "Goodbye" is a big piece of corporate crap.

They probably had to do that album because of their contract.

All of Jimi's stuff is the "Cream" of the crop.

JMO

Jimi Motivates Overall!

So far there are two people who cannot 'hear' Jimi.

I can hear him just fine. I just dig Cream more.
