Can is just yanking your chain, gang wink.gif

Since La Villa is my favorite Rush song of all time, it wasn't difficult for me to choose.

I get it How!

That is a reference to "Back On The Chain Gang!"

Hence "THE PRETENDERS!"

That relates to Can's take on "Hemispheres" and his all around love for Rush.

Time for some "Hemisbeers."

Not!

I'm off to bed!!

Can you are a RIOT! Time for you to man up and pick up "Fire Down Under!"

One of the greatest American Heavy Metal albums all time!!!

For many years I've maintained that my favorite Rush song is Subdivisions, but on a recent thread when discussing a favorite Rush song, I ended up putting Xanadu. Subdivisions is an amazing song, and it means a lot to me, but I think it's time for me to admit that Xanadu is the best Rush song ever. It's an epic of majestic proportions, and one of my favorite songs ever on the planet.

La Villa is in the top 3 of Rush songs and another stone cold classic, but the slight edge goes to Xanadu for being so damn perfect. La Villa would get a 12/10 and Xanadu maybe a 13/10. We're talking about levels of transcendent perfection here, so it gets difficult to rank.

How so Tery? I genuinely don't like Hemispheres as an album... unsure.gif

Saying this AND not liking Moving Pictures, please understand that from most Rush fan's perspectives, you not liking what's generally considered 2 of their very best albums from their very best period will cause people to question your fandom. People question my fandom regularly, but the albums of theirs I can't stand aren't generally considered their all out classics. Of course, everyone is a fan in their own way, but not liking Hemispheres and Moving Pictures is pretty highly unusual, unless you're not a Rush fan. Do you at least love 2112, AFTK, Permanent Waves and/or Signals?

Are there any Rush albums you think are truly great? If so, which ones?

People wonder why I complain about certain latter day Rush albums, but it's because of songs like Xanadu and La Villa Strangiato. Rush have created such a ridiculously high standard with songs like these, and the albums they come from, that it's a LOT to live up to. It's the rare exception that they can make a song that can hold a candle to songs like these ones from the period of time where they were cranking out classics seemingly effortlessly.

LVS, the one gem on a dull album. Also blows Xanadu out of the water.

I guess hang me with Can-Utility as I feel the same way.. ohmy.gif

This is like asking me which of my kids is closer to my heart. ohmy.gif

If someone put a gun to my head, I guess I'd have to pick La Villa because of the incredible guitar work by Lerxst.

Wow! As of this writing they're tied up 15 and 15.
Frankly I'm surprised. I would've thought for sure that LVS would be the winner by a mile.

You're talking about an era that is sacred to many Rush fans, so I actually expected it to be fairly evenly divided.

As I said, both songs are in my Rush top 10 for sure.

There is always a first for everything in life.

I think I need a drag and I don't smoke Mary Jane.

I'll try to have one for ya'

In my world Hemispheres is the second greatest album ever just behind COS. I can't understand how someone wouldn't understand it's awesomeness. Then again, I can't understand how anyone could possibly listen to top 40 pop radio.

La Villa for me. La Villa is a top 5 Rush song for me. Xanadu would fall in the 6-10 range.
