Green Bay is 28th in total offense right now:

http://espn.go.com/n...am/_/stat/total

Amazing that they have a 6-1 record. Other than the Chiefs game, the O has been pretty stale, not sure if Jordy is a key here, but the receivers are just not getting open. Lots of short dumps, and great starting field position helped move the chains and put points on the board.

Gonna be another big test this week and Carolina has a pretty solid D. DBs and LBs are very good.

Because those stats are horrible measures of team offense. Here's a (much better) measure of offensive efficiency that takes into account opponents and situations that has them fourth.

The Packer offense is guilty of poor execution here and there, but let's not forget that five of their seven opponents have had good to great defenses. They won't be facing top-notch defenses in the 2nd half of the season.

Losing Nelson hurt, but that doesn't account for the other dysfunctions, like not running the ball, poor blocking, questionable play-calling, etc.

It's all about points scored baby. GB is 28th in yards but 10th in points per game. Detroit is 15th in yards but 30th in the league in points per game. The offense's #1 job: score points. Therrrrrrrre's your problem Detroit.

But I think Detroit leads the league in firings this year. Go get em Martha!

The offense's #1 job actually is to contribute to a win. When you're out to a significant lead, gaining as many yards and even scoring as many points as you can isn't necessarily the goal.

Offense: Score as many points as possible, stay on the field as much as possible, dominate time of possession

Defense: Keep opponent from scoring, force punts and turnovers, get off the field as soon as possible

The Packers' favorite thing to do is build a huge lead real fast and then coast. For us fans, that can be quite irritating, as we don't like seeing the other team score all those "garbage time" points. :rage:

The worst play in football is the kneel down at the end of the game. No effort to even TRY to score. And the four minute offense is the worst offensive concept ever, much worse than the two minute drill because scoring.

You play to win the game.

This year? Why not this week? Because the Packers got behind and laid down like dogs instead of showing pride? I was hoping for a decent game but the Packers just gave up at the end of the game.

Don't know if they will beat the Panthers or not , but I go with the Pack to be in the Super Bowl this year regardless.

It's gonna be tough. The other teams will try to do what Denver did - play tight man coverage and rush Rodgers. Not every defense can do it as well, but if the Packer offense doesn't grab another gear, they won't be going to Santa Clara.

Just gotta wonder what the Pack was thinking?? Now they are moving targets and everyone will be hunting Rodgers (takes two seconds to see a weakness and take advantage)

Not every defense is as good as Denver's. Their pass rush is fierce, and their secondary is excellent. The Packers may have flopped Sunday night, but they're not falling apart. They are still the heavy favorite to win the NFC North and go deep into the playoffs.

The top contenders from the NFC are the Packers, Panthers, and Cardinals. Seattle should not be ignored, as they have a good chance of making the playoffs. The season has a long way to go......

The media's favorite thing to talk about is Peyton's age, even though he may be getting old, he has the offensive playmaking to keep things rolling, even if his arm has lost its touch a bit as he's gotten older.

But what's going to keep Denver going is that excellent defense. You know the old saying "defense wins championships". As long as Manning and the offense can keep rolling, that defense is going to make them hard to beat.

As much as I hate to say it, the Packers are still a good team. I don't see them going to the Super Bowl, though. If Bridgewater continues to get better and Adrian Peterson can keep things going for just a little bit longer before the age issue sets in for his position, they can overtake Green Bay next season.

Bears will improve. I don't trust Cutler at the helm, but I trust the coaching staff and front office to keep moving pieces. They'll need some time to rebuild the mess they were handed. It'll take the equivalent of moving mountains to make them a contender, though.

Lions? Good luck
