Rush Cocky
The Packers are my pick to win the NFC North this year. Have a pretty strong feeling they could make it to the Superbowl as well. And IF both of those things happen.....Brett Favre will retire, possibly in disgrace.

Principled Man
QUOTE (ForceTen @ Aug 31 2010, 05:08 PM)Favre can't retire possibly in disgrace. He's already in disgrace. If the Packers win it all this year, they will make #4 go away forever and completely vindicate GM Ted Thompson and Head Coach Mike McCarthy. All of Packer Nation will be healed.....as if nothing had happened.
Principled Man
Packers 27 Michael Vick 20 http://media.jsonline.com/images/600*375/mjs-packers13-7-of-hoffman.jpg-packers13.jpg ^^^Clay Matthews, the Packers' STUD linebacker, after sacking Kevin Kolb. A tough, tough win. Beating the Eagles on their own turf is TOUGH. Packers didn't play consistant football, but they did look great at times. They had just enough to stop Vick and his mistake-prone Eagles. McCarthy really, REALLY needs to stop playing not to lose. Ya gotta go for the jugular, damnit!! Going all conservative in the 4th quarter was really dumb!!

Torn ankle ligaments and fracture! http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0914/fan_u_grantr_200.jpg This is not good news. I think their passing offense is good enough to make up for his loss, but the defense needs to step up majorly.
laughedatbytime
RB is the position where replacements are the most easily found. Grant was a good but not great back. Unfortunately for the Pack, the other RBs on their roster haven't shown that much. I hear Samkan Gado is still out there as a FA after being cut loose by the Titans

I hear Samkan Gado is still out there as a FA after being cut loose by the Titans We'll see how Brandon Jackson does. IMO, he's better than Grant in the open field, and he's a better blocker and receiver. Rumors are developing about a trade for Marshawn Lynch or even Marion Barber....just rumors without any factual basis. More wishful thinking by fans, I think. The Packers will wait and see how things go. If Jackson struggles, then a trade may be done. I'd take Barber over Lynch (and his issues).

Principled Man
Packers 34 Bills 7 http://media.jsonline.com/images/600*555/mjs-packers20_-spt_-sieu_-7-packers20.jpg Clay Matthews strikes again! With three sacks of poor, defenseless Trent Edwards, Matthews now has six after two games. Packers sputtered early, got their asses chewed at the half, and then came out roaring. Buffalo ran the ball pretty well, but they were no match for the Green and Gold's superior firepower. And I LOVED being there!! Had GREAT SEATS...... I take it you're a Bills fan. If so, I kind of feel for you. I'm not sure what it would be like to be a fan of a franchise that has basically given up. After all, if your last two coaching hires are Dick Jauron and Chan Gailey, and you enter the season with Trent Edwards as your starter, not once, but twice, that tells me that the ownership and front office is basically mailing it in. Too bad, Buffalo fans deserve better.

They have a GOOD defense and running game. Any one of their three RB's could start for any other team. Why they're not trading Lynch is beyond me! I'm not sure that Buffalo can get what they want for Lynch. He has some character issues and has been suspended once, so whoever acquires him would be taking a chance. He hasn't really outperformed Fred Jackson in Buffalo (at least IMHO) so he would only be an upgrade for teams that are weak at the position. I don't think he'll end up in Green Bay because I don't think Thompson would take on such a character risk unless there was significant upside. And I don't think that Green Bay would be a good location for him off the field either.

They'll give Brandon Jackson at least the next two games (Bears, Lions) to prove himself.

Principled Man
QUOTE (ILSnwdog @ Sep 21 2010, 08:24 AM)Don't look for Jackson to have much of a showing against the Bears. They have the #1 rush defense in the league right now. They have allowed 56 yards rushing in two games, and are allowing 1.4 yards per carry. Brandon is going to have a very long night next Monday. Playing against the Lions and the dysfunctional Cowboys, that's not saying much!! Da Bears needed a miracle to beat Detroit, and the Cowboys beat themselves. Stats don't mean squat after TWO games....or even 16 games. WINS are all that matter. GO PACK GO!!!
