There, I've said it. It's like hell froze over and monkeys flew out of my butt all at the same time! Business as usual then, Goobs That's why every time Deiter asks me, "Would you like to touch my monkey," I say no, because I know where the monkey came from. treeduck
What's the album version of Caravan gonna be like? How long will it be? And what's missing from this version???????????????
Syriux
Just listened to BU2B and my first thought was if they play this in the concert venues, and do an longer version intro with this "riff" from the opening portion of this song, they are going to have the folks working security up on their feet with their hands in the air. All I can say is hearing it here on my 7.1 speakers is one thing, hearing it live and "feeling it live" is going to be a rather eye-opening experience. HemispheresserehpsimeH
Absolutely awesome songs, boys! I've been listening to these non-stop since Midnight and haven't looked back. Caravan - The intro threw me off, but that's what I wanted. I was hoping for a sound explosion, and the riffing covers that. Great chorus, amazing bass tone, and a classic breakdown with a strange, yet, satisfying solo by Alex. Massive song to make a statement. BU2B - Simply awesome also. I love when the keys come in. It's orgasmic to hear them again, to be honest. I also love the uptempo drive to this song. Nick R. has really stepped up the production on these two bad boys. I loved the production on S&A, and the instruments sound so fresh and separate from each other. Well done, sir! I'm extremely curious how far you're pushing Rush for this album. different strings
To get back on topic- wow both Caravan and BU2B are off the richter and on first listen I immediately thought of " COUNTERPARTS". I love both the songs and especially the bass and instrumental sections of CARAVAN. These songs are better than S and A even after two listens each on a crappy computer speaker and I can only imagine what they will be like live. I CAN'T WAIT. There will be very few negative responses that's for sure and the boys are back in a big way. Edited June 1, 2010 by different strings

stipe2112
first post!! i really don't hear counterparts in these songs. that being said: holy shit!!! this is WIERD music, which is what made rush great-- no intro/verse/chorus/verse/chorus pop structures here. PLUS-- y'all realise that the intro to caravan is from cygnus x-1, i'm shocked no one brought that up yet!! damn, that chorus melody in BU2B is heaven!!! H. P. L.
IMpressions after one listen. Caravan is the best of the two. Simply epic. Geddy hasn't sound this ANGRY since OLV and that's why I love him. This is definitely metal. The vaudevillian fanfare at the beginning had me fooled for a second... starts like a folksy song, you start thinking "This is Neil in Africa again..." and then it all goes cabaret for a second and then... guitar glory. Descendant riff, but absolutely not depressing this time. This song is on fire! BU2B. Seems more contrived to me. The "message" takes over the song. Didn't read the lyrics but could tell what it was about. Musically, it didn't grip me like Caravan. There's definitely a Vapor Trails chutzpa, directness, urgency. Yes, urgency. That's VT best quality and I'm so glad it resonates here, after the more balanced, laid back, relaxed feeling of S&A. More listens will follow. PuppetKing2112
I actually had an argument with my friend for almost two hours about these songs. He thinks they've gotten lazy and are just re-hashing the same sound as the last two albums. I disagree.
