tangy
And the funny thing is MP is a big fan himself. Per his "Hero of the Day" posts MIKE PATTON (....speaking of which!) I got a great video while in Japan a few weeks ago of a German TV special on both Fantomas and Mr. Bungle (one of my all time favorites....but you already knew that).... It has interviews and great live footage of both bands and Fantomas do an incredible Slayer medley! Fantomas' new CD Director's Cut is totally insane as well.... (Bizarre interpretations of various movie themes ranging from The Godfather to Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me) I think Mike Patton is now up there as one of my favorite artists out there at the moment... prog.fusion
yes....Mike's triggered snare on Images and Words is kind of bad. But, its one of the few things that I have gotten used to. Even on the commentary to the Live in Tokyo DVD, Mike states numerous time about how much he hates the sound of that snare on the record.

RUSHHEAD666
"One" is on right now. There is a song with the violin that sounds very Kansas. It's very good! Mike is using a lot of splashes.

Tick
QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ May 22 2007, 02:00 AM)QUOTE (nappy2112 @ May 21 2007, 05:56 PM) I find it real amusing that Dream Theater haters can't stay out of Dream Theater threads . HAHAHAHATER!!!!! Is this the DREAM HATER THREAD? It nice to see that even though I like to rib Dream Theater instantly you lovers think I hate this band. That is pretty sad and pathetic INDEED! You think I don't know what I am talking about? Well that's your issue. I used to eat, sleep, drink, and dream Theater. I have seen this band many times. 11 to be exact. Hung out with them back in the day when they were good and shot the shit with them. It was during the "Images And Words" and "Awake" Tours. I saw these guys in small clubs for years. Whatever. I used to be a DREAMTHEATERHEAD. So what if I have a different opinion these days? You don't even know me. Glad you find me amusing. I like MUSE too, they don't need 5 musicians to sound like three either. Dream Theater is a progressive cover band who plays with textbook smarts instead of soul and guts. Their parents put them through school to be the "Master Of Puppets." What's wrong with that DT Fans? After all they did cover that WHOLE ALBUM! We can debate it all night long if you would like. I loved this band. They are good guys but come on. Downhill City. All they can do in the Bay Area is play The Warfield every year. Well? Now on the Systematic Chaos Tour they are falling down a rung and playing at the Berkeley Community Theater. What a dump. They don't even sell beer or water there. I saw King Crimson open for TOOL there many years ago. TOOL will never play at that dump again, yet your precious band is booked there. Wow! Hey These Berkelee School Of Musicians are playing in Berkeley. Maybe they can rename the venue, "BERKELEY COMMUNITY DREAM THEATER." I guess you called my bluff. I am a HATER. An anagram for THEATER is HATER so I guess I am guilty as charged. LAME! It's one thing if I came into this Sacred Hall of a Thread on a Rush Forum and gave this band some shit for not knowing a thing about them. I saw DT do "By-Tor And The Snowdog" at The Warfield and it sucked. "Turbulence" Tour to be exact. They will alway be RUSH JR. looking to hold on to an unwelcomed embrace by an invisible hug. They are the little clown fish with the retarded fin. They had to look up at Megadeth on the GIGANBORE TOUR. Talk about pathetic. Dream Theater went through keyboard players the same way Spinal Tap went through drummers. Kevin Moore was the best even though I am sure most of you would say that Rudess is a much better player. It's called chemistry though. It's like when Guns N Roses booted Steven Adler and hired Matt Sorum. Sure the act carried on but "Chemistry" was lost. Go put on your "Subdivisions" cd DT FANS and listen to "Chemistry." I am a hater?? This is a RUSH FORUM last time I checked. I should join the DT WEBSITE and talk about how great RUSH is on there. Oh wait!! The Dream Theater Website was hacked and stolen into the cyberspace on Nothingness. What's left over there?? Mike Portnoy's Top Ten Album List? I am surprised that a Dream Theater album isn't in Mike's Top Ten List. That is classic!! The math is real simple like a pimple waiting to be popped on the forehead of a stereotypical Rush Geek. DREAM THEATER = ANALONG KID RUSH = DIGITAL MAN I guess that's why all of you DT LOVERS like to come on this board and talk about how great your band is. Whatever. I was once like you. Luckily I saw your favorite band in tiny bars and dumps in the Bay Area and were great. Funny how Father Time can either erode a band away into the Sands of Time or increase the stamina of an older group of 3. It will always take five members of DT to try and sound like the 3 in RUSH. So Dream Theater Lovers, how will the movement of "Systematic Chaos" units match up against the sold units of "Snakes & Ladders?" Not even close, although I will buy the new album. Just because I am done seeing YOUR BAND live ever again doesn't mean I will stop buying their studio shit. So Dream Theater fans? How many of you have that blue promo 3 inch cd with the "cover" of TEARS? It was a give away in Japan if you bought the first pressing of "AWAKE" which also comes with a bonus 3 inch cd of bonus stuff? Do you fans have all the Christmas cds? I do. Yeah such a hater. "Caught In A Web" of hypocrisy and lies. Get in line and leave your Ego at the door. There's plenty to go around. Maybe you can borrow some of Portnoy's. He has a shitload to go around. He is the Lars Ulrich of the Modern Age. Short Man's Complex. EGO THE SIZE OF MANHATTAN. Nice boxing robe there big guy. As AXL ROSE would scream, "GET IN THE RING MOTHER FOKKER!" Classic. ON!!! Are you for real Rushhead ? In almost two years on this board, this is by far the most ridiculous, moronic, nonsencical post i have ever read ! (and ive written some dumb ones) I can clearly see you have advanced from Elmers on to the really serious glue, stick to using it for model airplanes. Have a nice day. Rushhead666, just say yes to Elmers. its the safe choice. http://www.hardwarestore.com/media/product/149591_front500.jpg http://www.boingboing.net/200511251727.jpg Sniffing glue is bad ! Larks
nahh.. dont think i'm gonna buy this album i am very dissapointed with this album(and i listened to it 38023 times already) i just dont hear something new in the songs and i HATE the whole metal approach they put in this album. nothing moves me like in the classic albums, and all the solos and instrumentals sounds like wannabe Dance of eternity in my opinion with nothing fresh and really impressive
priest_of_syrinx
It may be a matter of taste... But I'll ask you if you like the era from 6DOIT-Octavarium because I really like that era and some people don't. That may be a deciding factor in getting the album. prog.fusion
i think it all depends on if you like the heavy stuff enough. of course, ive also heard its not all too removed from Awake in it heavy stuff except for the 2 officially released tracks so far. ElectricEye
I still love their first couple of albums. I got bored of them because their music got so complex and crazy. I don't hate, just the newer stuff after "Falling into Infinity" just didn't fo it for me.
