  1. Sorry for the massive bump on this thread. Managed to get Philadelphia tickets last week to one show. SInce this tour is billed as a Farewell tour tickets are going for a killing on the aftermarket. Rush 41st anniversary next year and Crimson 46th anniversary this year. Who could ask for more?
  2. Floor is a better singer than Anette as evidenced through Revamp and After Forever. I actually became fan of the last Revamp album. Was hoping she'd continue working with the project and they were full steam ahead for a second album next Spring. Now it seems like Nightwish will take a great deal more time. What concerns me is the after effects of spending as many years as Anette and Tarja did in Nightwish only to get the boot again. Tarja rebounded fine with her solo career. One of the reasons Floor's old band After Forever disbanded was due to her too much stress in her life and Nightwish is not exactly the most ideal situation if you want to avoid undue stress. And to the fans who waited for so long for Imaginaerum the past few years, it must be difficult for them to adjust to yet another new singer as awkward a moment as the first few weeks of dates on this tour. This was a huge, huge album with a feature movie and the biggest of the band's career like Pink Floyd's The Wall. Which may sound a bit overblown but you can make reasonable comparison. Anette singing simply can't be ignored since it is a integral part of the record.
  3. As a Set 2 witness, I would take Body Electric or Fiddletown Dreams any day of the week. That said I'm not a huge fan of Body Electric. Back in the day (okay 10 years ago), it was kind of joked of as one of the weaker songs on GUP. Manhattan Project just barely over Dreamline - again I have mixed feelings about this one. Was a huge fan of Manhattan back in the day and since soured over this song. Dreamline though is a definite live staple and probably much better live than on the album. The real shaft for me was Carnies escaping from the setlist in Bristow. Its a great song musically even without the overuse of pyro. We got plenty of that in other songs as it is. Wish Them Well, went over well with this crowd that night. I could see it as a future radio single if they wanted to do it. Can't get over the canned vocals on this song. The Alex "rant" is bizarrely placed here and not many people responded to this as they had with the Closer to the Heart rant in 94' or the La Villa 2002-04 rants.
  4. QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 21 2012, 04:58 PM) No, because then Anonymous would flood the submissions with votes for Dog Years, Rivendell, Tai Shan, You Bet Your Life, Superconductor and Virtuality. Using Tor and proxy websites of course.
  5. I take the skipping of Manhattan Project at Bristow to mean I was lucky to get setlist A on the VT tour (Between Sun and Moon/Vital Signs). The latter became moot in 2010.
  6. QUOTE (Clydefrog @ Sep 8 2012, 07:02 PM) I would say "The Pass" and "Dreamline" are definite alternate songs. The CA Tourbook lists the video credits for these 2 songs with all the other video credits. (maybe there were other video credits for songs not played as well, but I don't recall seeing them). Someone else there are 4 songs listed in the credits and the others included as well so the info seems conflicting: 2112, 7 Cities, Middletown Dreams. Does anyone have a tourbook in hand and give 100% confirmation on this?
  7. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Sep 8 2012, 02:45 PM) QUOTE (Alchemical @ Sep 8 2012, 02:37 PM) QUOTE (ShowgunSam @ Sep 8 2012, 02:26 PM) As ballsy as this set list was, what makes you all think they won't make a few swaps over the course of the year? It's gonna be a long tour, after all. Someone supposedly legit stated in another thread that there are other songs in the rotation and there might even be a second setlist with a few alterations. 2112 Limelight Middletown Dreams The Pass Dreamline Seven Cities of Gold Those were the songs I believe. The credits in the tour book seem to be a tip-off regarding what songs are played. Almost everything they played is listed there, and a few songs they DIDN'T play, which I'm guessing may appear on alternate night. Among those songs, the following were listed: 2112 The Pass Dreamline Seven Cities of Gold I'm guessing on some nights these songs will be swapped for some of the ones played in Manchester. For example: 7CoG instead of Halo Effect, 2112 Overture/Syrinx instead of Working Man, etc. Jeeze, going tomorrow night and I hope they don't change the setlist up a whole lot. I got bitchslapped when they played Summertime Blues in 2007 and they dropped it eventually for Distant Early Warning.
  8. QUOTE (DBJetsman @ Sep 7 2012, 11:14 PM) That's the most bulls*** setlist I've ever seen. 4 songs from PoW (ONE OF THERE WORST ALBUMS EVER) and not even the best one (Marathon)? 2 songs from Signals and Moving Pictures: REALLY??? They are complete dumbasses and will never ever be the greatest band ever... My dad now doesn't even want to go anyone because the setlist is a giant pile of s***
  9. For you the Losing It fans who once could see, the bell tolls for theeeee
  10. Wish Them Well had a rant? Curious to see how this works out.
  11. Thought this song was long dead and buried forever. They truly have outdone themselves here.
  12. No way. Grand Desi--... How many Power Windows songs this time?!?
  13. Well someone could sneak by knowing a person that works at the venue. Instead of scratching our heads staring at a fake setlist.
  14. They must play "Losing It" 26 times tonight or I am disappoint.
  15. i'd approach that image with caution. the last time people thoughT superconductor was in the setlist and it turned out to be an image for BU2B. but its not entirely surprising condering it one of their pet songs like drealine, natural science, la villa and roll the bones. and it would be the obvious and indulgent move to put strings on those.
  16. I think this would be a great idea if it had been brought back for almost 20 years off. Hearing Natural Science resurrected during the T4E after the drum solo, without knowing the setlist in advance is one of the best surprises. Hemispheres Prelude would be a nice surprise as an opener with the full section since its been nearly as long since the Counterparts tour. But they have their own tour rituals that need to be in place for whatever reason.
  17. A good opener with inventive use of the strings. But yadda yadda its too dark pyro, etc.
  18. The War of the Queensrike's - East Side Queensryche vs. (Rising) West Side Queensryche just like Great White Vs. Jack Russell's Great White. This does not create confusion in the marketplace. (sarcasm) People will comment on Facebook and of course they will ignore it all and go about their business. I'm surprised Chris Zukas/Zuck-ass (Tate's current son-in-law) isn't playing in Geoff's version of Queensryche. I also noticed Greg Gilmore (ex-Mother Love Bone) is supposedly the new drummer in Tate's "solo" electric band, not to be confused with Geoff's Queensryche.
  19. I Subdivisions Wreckers Sweet Miracle 2 Good 2 Be Twoo Limelight Freewill Workin Dem Angels Rollin' Dem Bones with Breakdancing from Julian Lee (w/Strings for every song onward) LOSING IT!1! II Bu2b Headlong Flight Clockwork Angles The Anarchist Halo Effect 7 Smitties of GOOL! (with Mexican Taco Bell intro film) Closer to the Heart (with Somalian Bagpipe Intro) Drum Solo Alex "Ahoy Eh!" Hockey Chant Rant The Garden Caravan YYZ Encore Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta Sweet Swiss Watch Mary With Billy Corgan, Geoff and Miranda Tate
  20. "For a price Geoff would do about anything except tell his bandmates about the Operation:Mindcrime movie deal." "Doped up fat, can't get it up. Gimmie another shot!!! Gimmie another shot!!!" - Geoff Tate
  21. This one I liked immediately after hearing the 30 second clip of the intro jam. But the rest of the song is kind of boring and repetitive like they almost didn't change it from the original demo. The disorted chorus vocal effect reminds me of Roll The Bones or the ending of Chain Lightning.
  22. If Wilton and co do get the rights to the name, they need to guitarist who can write well with them and not Parker Lundgren. Lundgren is at best a good touring guitarist but I haven't even seen any mention of his writing skills. Mike Stone his predecessor, was a writing machine on Mindcrime 2 with the help of an outside producer, but its because Stone was in many bands. Lundgren's only experience is in some punk band. Dave Groves, who worked with Wilton on the Soulbender project in 2003 is a good replacement and writer as well. They have a proven chemistry on this CD and more proof they can complete an album in time without Geoff Tate "directing" things.
  23. Probably ironically enough, Queensryche's last show in Virginia with Chris DeGarmo, July 1997. I was sick that day and was almost late getting into the fan club pre-show meet and greet. Geoff Tate, the almighty himself, was very sick and would not do the fan club meeting. It showed in the performance itself. The guy was extremely sick and they cut the setlist by a lot. And last year QR played their final show in Washington DC proper with Geoff Tate in July at the 9:30 Club (before Merriweather Post Pavilion this past May in Maryland). Tate was again..SICK with the flu and they get cut a bunch of songs from the setlist. Ah, the history. There are some other memorable ones like Lollapalooza 96' in West Virginia with Soundgarden trying to deal with some truly violent Metallica fans, locking my keys in the car during a Godspeed You Black Emperor show at the 9:30 club in December 2000 and waiting for a locksmith as they were playing, and the floor crowd at Soundgarden's final appearance at the Patriot Center before they broke up in 1997.
