  1. Coming out of the woodwork like a few peeps here. Just wanted to chime in with condolences to all. I'm absolutely gutted hearing this news
  2. Hellbound has always been my fave. "We have eternity to KNOW YOUR FLESH" <shudder>
  3. QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Sep 26 2009, 11:34 AM)QUOTE (Tammeh @ Sep 26 2009, 03:31 PM) I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. Still, a must-see for any and all Trailer Park Boys fans and I'll be at the opening night for their next movie, whenever that may be. There will be no next movie...This is it for TPB apparently. That could very well be but I wouldn't be surprised if there's something more in the years to come.
  4. I saw this last night. As far as ALL the TPBs shows and movies go, I thought it was the weakest. Story line, meh. Not enough other characters - you got to see Cyrus but he didn't speak, that was it, you only got to see him and I hoped there would be more with him as well as others. Not enough (or any, really) Ricky-isms. It was fun to keep my eyes peeled for the "Alex sighting." You gotta look hard, you may not recognize him Check out the credits at the end to see his. Also, don't get up and leave right away as there's a "J to the R-O-C" clip. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. Still, a must-see for any and all Trailer Park Boys fans and I'll be at the opening night for their next movie, whenever that may be.
  5. I was like, what the hell is this, Barn. Then I saw Simon Pegg as Lt. Montgomery Scott .... sweet \m/
  6. Thank you for the tip, I am going to check that one out.
  7. Tonight we watched Get Smart. While an "ok" movie on it's own, it's a pale comparison to the original series. The best parts were the old stand-bys like "would you believe...." "missed it by *that* much" and "your shoe is ringing." Was a bit of a slow starter but did improve. I'd give it a 6/10. That was actually the second movie of a double-header tonight - the first movie we watched was Army of Darkness (for the 100th time )
  8. I never cared for James Spader but since Boston Legal I really like him.
  9. QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Jun 16 2008, 04:27 AM) QUOTE (raygun47 @ Jun 15 2008, 06:20 PM) QUOTE (the masked drummer @ Jun 14 2008, 10:51 AM) Is there really a DVD coming out or is it a hoax? You would think there would be an announcement at dreamtheater.net wouldn't you? hmmm Definitely. I've heard Mike talk about it a few times. It won't be a "show," but many shows from the tour...like 5 Years in a Livetime. He had planned on doing an "in-store" thing with Mikael Akerfeldt, but it didn't happen. He said he wanted to use it on the dvd. If you want the latest news...go to mikeportnoy.com forums. He does everything there first. That's great news! I like the complete concerts, but the 5YIAL concept with all those kewl little snippets and cameos of other bands, musicians, is great, too. Looking fwd to it!!! They were definitely filming the Vancouver show on May 6th
  10. I will definitely buy it! I am over the top with joy over the news that DT will be playing in VANCOUVER on May 6th. YIPPEE!!! They've never been to BC before. I've seen them twice in Seattle in '03 and '04, that's the closest. Before that it had been 8 years since they'd been to Seattle.

    Laugh-In

QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Feb 13 2008, 05:31 AM)We need to find the clip of Nixon saying "Sock it to me!" Politicians don't do stuff like that anymore. No, I'm not making this political, I'm just sayin'. Please, no one else make it political, either. Thanks! I loved watching Laugh-In. At work some 20+ years ago we did a christmas skit that was like Laugh-In where we'd be dancing then stop and say some stupid joke. Was tons of fun! The reason I quoted Jack's post was because of his politician note. That is sad but true in the US but I gotta tell ya it is alive and well in Canada. Even our current Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, who is labelled a "robot" has been in some of the funniest comedy sketches ever. I love when they do this. Ok I won't say anything more "politicky"
  12. I love this movie! One of my all time faves that I can watch again and again and never tire of it. I recently bought this Sinbad collection from ebay: http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b267/Tammeh69/sinbadcollectiondvd.jpg

    Juno

QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Jan 4 2008, 09:11 PM)Ellen Page is an excellent young actress (yay Canada! ) Check her out in a movie called Hard Candy...she plays a young teen who turns the tables on an alleged pedophile....pretty badass. She is great! She also played Treena, the daughter of Jim & Barb Leahy in The Trailer Park Boys
  14. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jan 7 2008, 12:39 PM)Oh, and the commentary on the 'Hellboy' special edition is really cool because they actually show the actors as they're doing the commentary with the movie shrunk down and in a window on the bottom left of the screen. I wish that more of them would do it like that. That is cool, I've sometimes wondered what type of situation they are in when commentating. I have been meaning to check out Hellboy ever since I saw Pan's Labyrinth, all the more reason to now.
  15. As much as MP likes to be involved in everything, this is prolleh the label acting on their own.
  16. LOL, I like the "unfortunate beer tap placement."
  17. I love the commentaries and never miss them. I think I could be classified as a commentary junkie, lol. I always watch the film the first time with no commentary then a second time with it. I really like to hear all the stories and trivia they provide about the film and movie-making itself. For the peeps who are not big on thecommentaries - watch Spinal Tap with the commentary on - it will change your mind

I have a few not on the list: Crime Wave (1954) Act of Violence (1948) Decoy (1946) Tension (1950) Mystery Street (1950 starring Ricardo Montalban - one of his first roles) Side Street (1950) The Killers (1946 excellent Burt Lancaster and Ava Gardner) The Big Steal (1949 with Robert Mitchum an "noir staple") Where Danger Lives (1950 another Robert Mitchum and also Maureen O'Sullivan) I have more but those are the ones I have "notes" on (so far). I print out the pages from the imdb and keep them in a binder. They are all great! The Noir section of the imdb is a great place to research the movies. I don't know why I'm so drawn to these movies, but I just love 'em. I like to see how "the times" looked, you know the cars, houses, style of dress. Generally they all have a narrator and all the guys wear suits, ties and hats, hehe. The women are for the most part "hard." The studios of the time had their big budget films on the go so these "B" movies (at the time) were allowed to push some boundaries somewhat, they weren't paid that much attention to by the studio heads and came under the radar of the censors a lot of the time. I love to see the actors when they were first starting out, Robert Conrad (remember "Cannon?") was a staple in them. Check out "Touch of Evil" a great Orson Welles flick - his favourite one I believe. He directed and stars in it and Charlton Heston is a hoot with a spanish accent. Has anyone here seen 1931 "M" that is a film ahead of it's time. It's a very chilling story of a child killer and the neighbourhood turns vigil anti to "get" the guy and they hold him up to their own brand of justice. All the above list are great movies, you can't go wrong with any one of them.
  19. 20. Wow, that is really something. It is VERY COOL to know that Mike Portnoy has read this site. Mike, I LOVE YOU What is not cool is that he would come across some of the ignorant comments posted about his band here. I don't know what it is, and it's not just here, but it has been my experience that whenever DT gets brought up, particularly in a Rush forum, naysayers go out of their way to vehemently bash the band. They are so vocal about their dislike of the band it goes beyond reasoning. Why they feel the need to even enter a thread titled "Official Dream Theater Thread" is beyond me. If I see a thread about a band I'm not big on I either a) pass by it or b ) read it and figure maybe I should give that band another try. Please all you DT bashers. LAY OFF!!! Actually, that goes for anyone who feels the need to spout off rude comments to anyone's personal opinions and preferences. I'm glad you like DT, RR http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b267/Tammeh69/MikePortnoy.jpg
  21. My daughter bought the DVD the day it came out and I've been pretty much watching it constantly, I can't get enough of it, lol. I hadn't even seen Shaun of the Dead (although I have now a few times). I liked Shaun well enough but Hot Fuzz, man, it rules!! A must have for everyone. What an ensemble cast, and just Nick kills me
  22. Hey that's cool, for the most part they don't look too bad 20 years later. The Princess Bride is one of my favourite movies, I always enjoy it.
