Early Used and MCR have similarities and I love them both! MCR however had the better third album, not even slightly close.

I love Lies For The Liars, but it could never top The Black Parade

I like it, I don't love it. I remember loving it when it came out but unlike the first two, it didn't stick. How would rank their albums by the way? I've been considering doing a deep dive

Bastille- All This Bad Blood

Bastille- Wild World

ATBB is one of my all time fave albums, and now I am finally digging into their following albums. In 2016 I wasn't ready for the follow up, nothing could come close. And now I'm ready and I LOVE WILD WORLD!

Worked from home again today so back to whatever vinyl came out of the moving box.  First out:

Mozart - The Magic Flute

A 3 LP box Set.  Classical is almost always good and this was ok - but, for some reason, not my favorite classical.  But ok.  Next out of the box:

Gilbert & Sullivan - H.M.S. Pinafore

Its ok but again, not really a favorite with me.  Next out of the box:

Styx - Caught in the Act

Live Styx -  a band I have seen a number of time live and generally enjoy live.  So I should like this but for me its nothing special.  I can't tell where it was recorded or if it was recorded at several locations.  I prefer my live albums to be recorded at one show and this feels like it might have been recorded at multiple shows.  Not a plus for me.  Its really feel kind of like a greatest hits live album - not a plus.  So its not terrible but nothing special.  Last out of the box:

Led Zeppelin - Houses of the Holy

This may shock some but this album does not do much for me.  "Over the Hills & Far Away" & "No Quarter" are ok.  But nothing more.  When I say ok let me put it this way, when I listened the other day to Iron Maidens "No Prayer for the Dying" I mentioned their were a number of decent songs on that album.  I would take any of them over the 2 Zep songs I just mentioned.  The rest of this album is just filler for me.  Just does not do much for me.

Sort of a dud of a day musically.

That was some show.  Dang.  I never saw Sammy but he is still touring and actually is playing near me this summer - I was going to go and after seeing this (even though it was more than 40 years ago) I am defiantly going to try to go.  Loved his tribute to The Who - including smashing his guitar.

I've seen Hagar twice, once in 1984-85 on the I Can't Drive 55 tour (VOA) and later in the 2000s at Lake Tahoe (Montrose opened the show!).  Both shows were great.  I'd never been a fan till I saw him live, but his energy and commitment to entertaining the crowd made me a convert.

Taylor Swift-Tortured Poets Department (7/10)

I've had months with this to settle.  i know i rated very high but it's kinda settled into mid pack for me. i'm just talking the main album.  i literally couldn't care less about disc 2.......sorry not sorry.

Don't get me wrong at all there are great songs on here.

Title track

Down Bad

But Daddy I love Him

Guilty As Sin

Who's Afraid.

I can Do It with A Broken Heart

However at it's core it's the same old Production Choices and the same old chord changes and the same old topics and the same old 20 album editions and the same old bonus discs........and honestly.......i'm just........swifted out and done with The taylor/antanoff experiment.  She's had THIS SOUND for a decade now in a couple years time.  and i may just move on.

Hot and humid here in NJ today so I'm hanging in with the A/C blasting.

This album is cooling me down.

Nothing wrong in any of that. Hearing the songs live last week made me realise...she could do better. Her live sound is exceptional and the way Antanoff produces is...quote muted.

I would love her to move along. I actually think TTPD sounds like it's being restrained at times.
