bluefox4000
Gordon Lightfoot-Don Quixote Probably my fav singer/songwriter. He has the Lyrics....the hooks....but honestly lacks the cheese (for the most part, lol) of someone like a Fogelberg and a John Denver He has the best voice out of them all too, IMO. I just find him really really brilliant. Mick Edited July 14 by bluefox4000

I think you're the first person I've come across to rate Power so high. However I really like that album, and love the debut Sirens. I'm an increasingly big Savatage fan. I think more and more as I listen to them that they are one of the all timers. They never seem to win at getting the sales they deserve, but the critical acclaim was always there as well as having a super devoted fanbase. Gutter Ballet to my ears is a masterpiece. I know some don't always like the vocals, but I do. I see you mention Streets favourably as well! That was my first Savatage, though oddly I don't play it often these days. Now thats interesting - I like Sirens as well but, get ready to have your mind blown, I also like Fight for the Rock. Its no Power of the Night, Sirens, Hall or Streets. It not Edge either. But I enjoy it - more that Gutter Ballet. Hey - I warned you I was about to blow your mind!!!
Entre_Perpetuo
Metallica - Metallica (The Black Album) Ugh honestly I’m not sure I’ve ever enjoyed this record more than today. What was that hilarious Green Day billboard meme? 100% pure uncut ROCK? This is actually that, lol, but for metal. Oh plus a couple ballads for good measure.

This for me is...such a bleh album Starts strong then rapidly gets more and more dull. But...I respect Metallica without particularly rating them

And yes, it starts sooooo strong. It must have been a hot minute since I last heard Enter Sandman because WOW. I’m sorry, that song deserves its spot in rock history. Masterpiece.

Mick I have that with, aside from Testament, thrash at large. But even then it's rarely this band I gravitate towards. Crazy thing is I really don't love them but I only ever find myself defending them online 🤣

Segue Myles
Gordon Lightfoot- Summertime Dream Dan Fogelberg- Souvenirs Carole King- Tapestry Three beautiful albums. Joe Hisaishi- Spirited Away OST The works of Hayao Miyazaki and his anime studio, Studio Ghibli, are my most precious movies. Sometimes when anxieties hit, all I need is to hear his movie scores and I'm immediately hit by dopamine. Beautiful scores for beautiful films.
Segue Myles
Styx- Styx I always see this album get hate, but I enjoy it's oddities and strange ambitions a lot. Movement For The Common Man is often maligned, I love it...as far as debut albums go this is a minor favourite of mine.
Segue Myles
Styx- Styx II This is such an underrated album. Close to perfection in my eyes. The next two albums are a little much, but here everything works perfectly.

bluefox4000
John Denver-Rocky Mountain High. There was a time in my country when Denver was the swift of his day. His clean cut nerdy image was an easy target (though having read his autobiography. he was anything but clean cut, lol) and yes his music is so cringe at times. but i can't help but be charmed. a song like For baby (For Bobbie) i should never admit to liking but i play it daily, lol Mick Edited July 15 by bluefox4000

I adore that movie, it's very close to my heart. Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke are my personal faves. Non-Miyazaki I highly recommend from Ghibli is Only Yesterday. It's a quiet, soulful drama about a woman disillusioned by life in the city and memories of her childhood taking a holiday in the countryside. It's life affirming, beautiful stuff.
